In 2017, for example, the&nbsp;Associated Press Stylebook, which is a widely used reference for journalists, embraced the use of \u201cthey\u201d as a singular pronoun, NBC News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/feature\/nbc-out\/ap-stylebook-embraces-they-singular-gender-neutral-pronoun-n739076\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class>\u201cWe offer new advice for two reasons: recognition that the spoken language uses they as singular, and we also recognize the need for a pronoun for people who don\u2019t identify as a he or a she,\u201d said Paula Froke, lead editor for the AP Stylebook.<\/p>\n<p>The tweet damning the term \u201cbiological males\u201d blew up online by Friday, promoting opponents to weigh in on Sosin\u2019s take.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf I can\u2019t refer to a transwoman as a \u2018biological male,\u2019 then you\u2019ve removed my ability to debate or disagree,\u201d conservative Chad Felix Greene pushed back. \u201cBy default you are requiring me to accept and vocally endorse your worldview.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"11.157088122605\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">If I can&#8217;t refer to a transwoman as a &#8216;biological male,&#8217; then you&#8217;ve removed my ability to debate or disagree.<\/p>\n<p>By default you are requiring me to accept and vocally endorse your worldview. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Ey5LSHp2nK\">https:\/\/t.co\/Ey5LSHp2nK<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Chad Felix Greene (@chadfelixg) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/chadfelixg\/status\/1372885592938270721?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 19, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cI have absolutely no problem with using the terms \u2018trans woman\u2019 and \u2018trans man\u2019 to describe those who identity as other then their biological sex.
