When you do expect most students, K through 12, to return to in-person learning and what do you see as the single most important hold-up to that happening, since we have seen so much science suggesting that with masks and with ventilation, et cetera, there\u2019s no reason for schools to be closed?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLook, I\u2019ve been a strong advocate for safely getting our kids back in-person for instruction,\u201d Newsom pronounced. \u201cI have four young kids myself; I\u2019ve been living through Zoom school and all of the challenge related to it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tapper, supporting Newsom, \u201cThat\u2019s brutal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Newsom continued, \u201cPut out a detailed proposal to our legislature,\u201d then repeated Tapper\u2019s comment, \u201cIt\u2019s brutal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Newsom Laments &#039;Brutal&#039; Virtual Learning Months After Sending Own Kids Back to Classroom\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/6PCWqtxrs0I?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe governor in late October revealed that his kids\u2019 Sacramento private school was \u2018phasing out\u2019 of virtual learning in favor of a hybrid approach. Students returned to the classroom full-time in November,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/democrats\/newsom-says-virtual-learning-has-been-brutal-his-kids-have-been-in-school-since-november\/\">The Washington Free Beacon<\/a> reported, adding:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"9\">\n<p><em>Newsom\u2019s \u201cZoom school\u201d experience stands in stark contrast to that of most California families. Nearly all Sacramento-area public schools were closed when the Democrat\u2019s children resumed in-person learning. And while a majority of California public schools are now set to open their doors by early April, many districts are limiting in-person instruction to just one or two days a week in order to receive state funding under Newsom\u2019s reopening plan<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Marcelino Valdez, who founded a Fresno organization to get children back in schools, told the Free Beacon: \u201cIt\u2019s hard for him to relate to parents like myself and the 500-plus members of our group who have kids in public school. He\u2019s had his kids in private school. It\u2019s a real lack of understanding and a lack of leadership on his part.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Reopen California Schools founder Jonathan Zachreson said that Newsom\u2019s recent efforts to reopen schools are connected to the recall campaign against him that will likely be on the ballot. Zachreson stated, \u201cHe\u2019s not trying to help kids in the state\u2014he\u2019s trying to pretend schools are open to campaign for his recall.
