The Department of the Homeland Security said while agents were conducting a &ldquo;targeted&rdquo; operation &ldquo;against an illegal alien wanted for violent assault,&rdquo; they were approached by Pretti, who was armed with a &ldquo;9 mm semi-automatic handgun.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>They said federal agents attempted to disarm Pretti, but he &ldquo;violently resisted.&rdquo; One agent, &ldquo;fearing for his life and the lives and safety of fellow officers,&rdquo; then fired &ldquo;defensive shots&rdquo; at Pretti, who died at the scene.<\/p>\n<p>Footage taken by bystanders is showing a much different account, however. While Pretti was armed, he is never seen holding his gun, only his cell phone as he briefly intervenes when an agent pushes a woman over on the street.<\/p>\n<p>The agent then pepper-sprays Pretti, who does not resist and instead holds up his left hand.
