The larger package funding Defense, Transportation, HUD, HHS, Labor and Education passed 341-88; a separate DHS bill passed 220-207 amid Democratic protests over ICE deployments and the death of anti-ICE activist Renee Good. Rep. Ralph Norman&#8217;s amendment to strip the Senate earmarks failed 291-136, prompting rebukes from Republicans such as Reps. and pro-abortion groups.<\/p>\n<p>The so-called &ldquo;minibus&rdquo; appropriations deal &mdash; the &ldquo;final slate of 2026 funding bills,&rdquo; according to <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/house\/5701980-house-government-funding-bills\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Hill<\/a> &mdash; was supposed to fund numerous departments.<\/p>\n<p>One of the packages, which funded (among others) the departments of Defense, Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, Health and Human Services, Labor, and Education, passed by a vote of 341-88.<\/p>\n<p>A Department of Homeland Security funding bill passed separately by a slimmer margin, 220-207, as House Democrats used the opportunity to express dissent against the deployment of Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents to Minneapolis and the death of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/watch-renee-goods-former-father-law-refuses-take-cnns-bait-quotes-bible-instead\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">anti-ICE activist Renee Good<\/a> in a confrontation with ICE agents earlier in the month.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/mike-johnson-tells-march-life-attendees-teen-parents-told-abort-eternally-grateful-refused\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">House Speaker Mike Johnson<\/a> expressed relief over the votes, saying he wanted to get Congress back to &ldquo;muscle memory&rdquo;
