Those prosecutions &mdash; <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/2573000\/abortion-opponents-see-sharp-rise-in-face-act-charges-under-biden-administration\/\">many of which targeted anti-abortion demonstrators <\/a>engaged in prayer, sidewalk counseling, or nonviolent protest &mdash; helped cement a public perception that the FACE Act functioned primarily as a limited protection for abortion providers rather than a broader protection for religious exercise.<\/p>\n<p>However, the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.law.cornell.edu\/uscode\/text\/18\/248\">text of the statute<\/a> itself is not limited to <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/4427495\/what-is-face-act-federal-charges-minnesota-church-protest\/\">abortion-related conduct<\/a>.
