Lutnick criticized Europe and defended the Trump administration&#8217;s approach to confronting the <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >global economic status quo<\/a>,echoing arguments from an op-ed he published in the Financial Times about offshoring and U.S. economic policy.<\/p>\n<p>Accounts differ about European Central bank President Christine Lagarde&#8217;s departure: some outlets reported she left abruptly after Lutnick&#8217;s remarks, while a Fox Business correspondent quoted a source saying she left before the speech because she was tired. The Commerce Department said only one person booed (identified as Gore) and that no one left hastily.<\/p>\n<p>Gore later said he had listened to Lutnick but reacted at the end of the speech as he believes the administration&#8217;s energy policy is &#8220;insane.&#8221; At the WEF, Gore also spoke in favor of regenerative agriculture and government policies that subsidize farming in ways that steer producers toward sustainable practices. That approach failed the US, crushed American workers and ripped apart most of the rest of the world as well. It destroyed industries, weakened supply chains and left working people in most western countries behind.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Gore suggested Wednesday that U.S. government policy should promote &ldquo;regenerative agriculture&rdquo; during a panel discussion at the WEF.
