Andy Beshear (D-Ky.) is laying groundwork for a possible 2028 presidential bid and argues he&#8217;d be the Democrats&#8217; best chance to beat Vice President JD Vance. Even though he hasn&#8217;t officially declared, Beshear has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/beshear-posits-himself-as-democrats-best-chance-to-beat-vance-in-2028\/\" title=\"... posits himself as Democrats best chance to ... in 2028\">visited early primary states<\/a>, launched a national podcast, and weighed in on Democratic messaging &#8211; all signaling interest in higher office after his second term ends in December 2027.<\/p>\n<p>In a Politico interview he framed the central Democratic primary question as who can most plausibly defeat Vance, saying electability plus the ability to deliver are key and pointing to his record of winning three straight statewide races in a heavily pro-Trump state.Beshear highlighted narrow victories in 2015 and 2019 and a larger 2023 gubernatorial win, arguing that success in red and purple states proves his viability.<\/p>\n<p>As chair of the Democratic Governors Association,he urged the party to favor a &#8220;Democratic governor&#8221; as a nominee rather than coastal figures whom Republicans can paint as out-of-touch liberals. In 2023, he won his second term as governor by besting former state Attorney General <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/congressional\/3860137\/daniel-cameron-skirts-obamacare-subsidies-bid-replace-mitch-mcconnell\/\">Daniel Cameron<\/a>, who is now a candidate for Senate, by a 5% margin.<\/p>\n<p>President <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/donald-trump\/\">Donald Trump<\/a> won in Kentucky in all three of his <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >presidential general election bids<\/a>, first in 2016 by a 29.8% margin, then in 2020 by a 26% margin, and lastly in 2024 by a 30.7% margin.<\/p>\n<p>Beshear, the current head of the Democratic Governors Association, also said his party needs to nominate a &ldquo;Democratic governor&rdquo; in 2028.
