The Department of Homeland Security said officers were conducting a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/illegal-alien-shot-and-killed-after-severely-injuring-ice-officer\/\" title=\"... ... and Killed After Severely Injuring ... Off...r\">targeted traffic stop<\/a>, the suspect fled and crashed, and during a subsequent confrontation the officer was allegedly ambushed and fired a defensive shot. Wednesday&rsquo;s incident occurred a week after Renee Good was shot in Minneapolis, Minnesota, during an interaction with <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/ice\/\">Immigration and Customs Enforcement<\/a> officers. And we&rsquo;re in a position right now where we have residents that are asking the very limited number of police officers that we have to fight ICE agents on the street, to stand by their neighbors.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We cannot be at a place right now in America where we have two governmental entities that are literally fighting one another,&rdquo; Frey added.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Frey later took to social media to echo many of his statements from the press conference. He also encouraged protesters to not &ldquo;take the bait.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I have seen conduct from ICE that is intolerable,&rdquo; Frey said. &ldquo;And for anyone taking the bait tonight, stop. It is not helpful. We cannot respond to Donald Trump&rsquo;s chaos with our own chaos.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Regarding the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/crime\/4419671\/federal-officer-shooting-venezuelan-minneapolis\/\">shooting<\/a>, the Department of <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/homeland-security\/\">Homeland Security<\/a> made a social media post about the incident on Wednesday night, reporting that while &ldquo;conducting a targeted traffic stop in Minneapolis of an illegal alien from Venezuela,&rdquo; the suspect &ldquo;fled the scene in his vehicle and crashed into a parked car&rdquo; while attempting to evade arrest.
