Chip Roy, R-Texas, as an <a href=\"https:\/\/amendments-rules.house.gov\/amendments\/Roy%2022260113154742019.pdf?_gl=1*m0vup0*_ga*MTE0NjQyOTk0Ny4xNzY3MTA3MzQ0*_ga_N4RTJ5D08B*czE3Njg0MDk1NjkkbzQkZzEkdDE3Njg0MDk1NzAkajU5JGwwJGgw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">amendment<\/a> to an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/119th-congress\/house-bill\/7006\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">appropriations package<\/a> considered by the House for the 2026 fiscal year, the <a href=\"https:\/\/amendments-rules.house.gov\/amendments\/Roy%2022260113154742019.pdf?_gl=1*m0vup0*_ga*MTE0NjQyOTk0Ny4xNzY3MTA3MzQ0*_ga_N4RTJ5D08B*czE3Njg0MDk1NjkkbzQkZzEkdDE3Njg0MDk1NzAkajU5JGwwJGgw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">measure<\/a> sought to cut the budgets of the D.C. District Court and Court of Appeals by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/ChipRoyforTexas\/posts\/tomorrow-i-am-offering-an-amendment-to-appropriations-to-zero-out-the-staffoffic\/1264277282188701\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">20 percent<\/a>. Roy cited the D.C. courts&rsquo; overreaching activism in stifling President Trump&rsquo;s policy agenda as the reason for the amendment during a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/rep-mccarthy-gives-farewell-floor-speech-ahead-of-retirement\/\" title=\"Rep. McCarthy Gives Farewell Floor Speech Ahead Of Retirement\">floor speech ahead<\/a> of the vote.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2 d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-1402843023\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1463670073398-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&ldquo;One of the issues that we&rsquo;ve been addressing is the extent to which the president, who was elected to fulfill a mandate, has been carrying out policies that he believes fulfills the mandate the American people gave [him and] that &hellip; my colleagues on this side of the aisle believe should be fulfilled,&rdquo; Roy <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/RepChipRoy\/status\/2011550525939204565?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a>. &ldquo;And yet, there have been judges who have been putting their personal preferences and their activist tendencies in front of the will of the people and in front of the policies that the president is putting forward in such a way that raises questions about whether they&rsquo;re carrying out their jobs responsibly and in accordance with normal judicial ethics and procedures.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/HouseDailyPress\/status\/2011562821327470880?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">final vote<\/a> on the amendment was 163-257, with one member voting &ldquo;present&rdquo; and 16 not voting. District Judge <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/tag\/james-boasberg\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">James Boasberg<\/a> and Maryland District Judge <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/tag\/deborah-boardman\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Deborah Boardman<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>As The Federalist previously <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/10\/29\/100-times-worse-than-watergate-3-biggest-revelations-from-latest-arctic-frost-document-dump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a>, Boasberg played an <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/11\/18\/no-more-delays-gop-senators-demand-d-c-circuit-chief-suspend-boasberg-amid-impeachment-efforts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">instrumental role<\/a> in authorizing sealed subpoenas and nondisclosure orders targeting Republican senators as part of Special Counsel Jack Smith&rsquo;s &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/tag\/arctic-frost\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Arctic Frost<\/a>&rdquo; investigation. Judges Are Predisposed Against Trump Administration<\/a>]<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Boardman is most widely known for granting a lenient sentence to the man who attempted to assassinate Supreme Justice Brett Kavanaugh following the 2022 leak of the court&rsquo;s draft <em>Dobbs<\/em> decision overturning <em>Roe v. Wade<\/em>. While prosecutors <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/10\/04\/biden-judge-gives-would-be-kavanaugh-assassin-light-sentence-as-left-wing-violence-skyrockets\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">recommended<\/a> &ldquo;no fewer than 30 years to life imprisonment,&rdquo; Boardman sentenced the wannabe killer to just eight years behind bars &mdash; a decision stemming from her apparent sympathies for the man&rsquo;s &ldquo;transgender&rdquo; status and concern that he would be placed in a prison incongruent with his gender-bending fantasies.<\/p>\n<p>Roy singled out Boasberg and Boardman during his <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/RepChipRoy\/status\/2011550525939204565?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">remarks<\/a> ahead of Wednesday&rsquo;s vote. The congressman argued that both Democrat appointees have been &ldquo;particularly egregious in their contempt of the president and putting their personal views in front of their duty as judges to carry out the jobs that they hold.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\"> <span class=\"pUPQ5Rgn5TBXF7z1QCuGeUi2j9Vt6CrWGfFwkXmHHjcJV8PNeahoOk413DDOEyI03aEMpoA\"><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Rep.
