The GOP-sponsored SHOWER Act (Saving Homeowners from Overregulation with Remarkable Rinsing), led by Rep. russell Fry, would restore the rule that each nozzle counts as its own showerhead, framing the change as a defense of consumer choice and a rollback of regulatory overreach. Supporters, including Rep. Jared Golden (one of the defecting democrats), argued the move preserves shower pressure and common-sense policy. The measure follows president Trump’s April executive order criticizing lengthy Biden-era definitions and restrictions on “showerhead” design and flow, which the administration said were driven by a broader green regulatory agenda. The bill now moves to the Senate, were seven Democrats would need to join republicans for it to reach the president’s desk.

Eleven House Democrats jumped party lines to vote with their Republican counterparts in a bid to overturn regulations pushed during former President Joe Biden’s tenure.

According to Fox News, the House of Representatives voted 226-197 to overturn Biden-era regulations effectively aimed at restricting how strong shower heads could be.

Federal law already caps how much water a shower head is allowed to emit.

During the Biden administration, regulators took a broader view of that rule.
