However, former President Joe Biden&rsquo;s <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >signature domestic policy laws removed<\/a> the upper-income cap, increased subsidies to cover a higher  of premiums, and in some cases reduced certain households&rsquo; premiums to zero.<\/p>\n<p>Now, a bipartisan group of Senate members is drafting a potential agreement to restore the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/health-care-premiums-for-families-increase-nearly-50-in-one-decade\/\" title=\"Health Care Premiums For Families Increase Nearly 50% In One Decade\">enhanced tax credits<\/a> for two years. Republican Sen. Bernie Moreno of Ohio, a key negotiator, said Wednesday that the draft legislative text could be finalized as early as next week, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/healthcare\/5677676-obamacare-subsidies-health-care-premiums-abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Hill<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>One of the major sticking points in both chambers remains the Hyde Amendment, which restricts federal funding for abortions.<\/p>\n<p>Republicans have demanded the codification of Hyde protections in ACA plans. Democrats argue that Obamacare already complies by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ecfr.gov\/current\/title-45\/subtitle-A\/subchapter-B\/part-156\/subpart-C\/section-156.280\">requiring<\/a> insurers to separate premiums for abortion-related services from other coverage, which pro-life advocates have <a href=\"https:\/\/justthenews.com\/sites\/default\/files\/2025-10\/Final%20Congressional%20Letter%20on%20Obamacare%20.pdf\">criticized<\/a> as simply an &ldquo;accounting gimmick.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>President Donald Trump on Tuesday <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/donald-trump-hyde-amendment-abortion-republicans-6d91240f7fa3805500635b31e65ffb8d\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">urged<\/a> Republicans in Congress to be &ldquo;flexible&rdquo; on the issue to reach a healthcare deal, prompting backlash from pro-life groups and conservative Republicans. His comments came despite signing an executive order&nbsp;in January reaffirming the Hyde Amendment.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Extending the subsidies without Hyde isn&rsquo;t going to help Republicans &lsquo;own&rsquo; the healthcare issue,&rdquo; Gavin Oxley, media relations manager for Americans United for Life, told the Daily Caller News Foundation. &ldquo;Instead, it alienates the majority of Americans who oppose being forced to fund abortion with their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/watch-democrat-congressman-uses-national-guard-in-apparent-political-stunt-against-gop-member\/\" title=\"WATCH: Democrat Congressman Uses National Guard In Apparent \u2018Political Stunt\u2019 Against GOP Member\">hard-earned tax dollars<\/a>, risking not only the American moral conscience but the substantial cultural ground the pro-life movement has gained since Dobbs.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Ahead of the vote, Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America similarly warned Republicans that the &ldquo;pro-life base must never be taken for granted, especially not in a mid-term election year.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Any and all votes to extend COVID-era Obamacare subsidies without Hyde protections will be a decisive factor in SBA Pro-Life America&rsquo;s political engagement in both primaries and the general election in 2026,&rdquo; the group said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>Despite Trump&rsquo;s urging, there is little indication that House Republicans are prepared to compromise on Hyde.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We are not gonna change the standard that we&rsquo;re not gonna use taxpayer funding for abortion.
