Tim Walz said he is prepared to deploy the Minnesota National Guard ahead of potential protests after an ICE officer fatally shot a 37-year-old woman in Minneapolis. Walz described the guard as ordinary Minnesotans &#8220;in training&#8221; and warned the state will not allow the community to be used as a political prop, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/colorado-supreme-court-commits-an-insurrection\/\" title=\"Colorado Supreme Court Stages Insurrection\">urging peaceful protest<\/a>. According to DHS, the officer acted in self-defense after the woman allegedly tried to run over the officer with her vehicle; video shows the driver crashing into another car after being shot. Mayor Jacob Frey and Gov. Walz have questioned DHS&#8217;s account, and Frey told ICE to leave the city. We will not take the bait.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The Democratic governor described the warning order as a &ldquo;heads up&rdquo; to Minnesota residents in case protests become violent. He urged the public to protest peacefully despite their anger.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We can&rsquo;t give them what they want,&rdquo; Walz said of the Trump administration. &ldquo;The hearts and minds of the people in this state are on our side.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The shooting unfolded earlier Wednesday when a 37-year-old woman allegedly attempted to run over an ICE officer with her vehicle. In response, the officer opened fire on the driver.<\/p>\n<p>The <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/department-of-homeland-security\/\">Department of Homeland Security<\/a> claims the officer was acting in self-defense. Walz and <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/minneapolis\/\">Minneapolis<\/a> Mayor Jacob Frey insist otherwise.<\/p>\n<p>At a press conference after the incident, Frey told ICE to &ldquo;get the f*** out of Minneapolis.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>DHS <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/immigration\/4407482\/trump-2000-ice-officers-minneapolis-fraud\/\">deployed<\/a> up to 2,000 additional ICE officers to the city this week as the Trump administration detains illegal immigrants and investigates Somali-linked <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/minnesota-fraud\/\">fraud schemes in Minnesota<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/nicksortor\/status\/2008973759097733306\">Video footage<\/a> of the scene shows the driver crashing her vehicle into a white car after the officer shot her through the windshield. President Donald Trump <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/115855701696773990\">said the officer <\/a>was hospitalized and that it was &ldquo;hard to believe he is alive,&rdquo; though video shows the officer walking around the scene afterward.<\/p>\n<p>Police have not definitively identified the deceased victim yet, as the investigation remains ongoing, according to Walz.
