Ron DeSantis said his state is &#8220;looking very seriously&#8221; at bringing Florida criminal charges against Venezuelan leader Nicol\u00e1s Maduro after Maduro was seized in a U.S. raid and brought to New York for federal prosecution. The federal case will be handled in the Southern District of New York before Judge Alvin Hellerstein.DeSantis accused Maduro of involvement in funneling drugs into Florida and suggested Maduro has sent prisoners toward the U.S.; he noted on X that double jeopardy would not <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >bar separate state charges<\/a> because of the &#8220;separate sovereigns&#8221; doctrine. Double jeopardy doesn&rsquo;t attach.
