Sa&#8217;ar described the visit as an honor, said recognition decisions are Israel&#8217;s to make, and confirmed an invitation for Somaliland&#8217;s president to visit Israel. Somalia&rsquo;s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/MOFASomalia\/status\/2008533977985101840\">strongly worded statement<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Hargeisa forms an inalienable part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/challenger-2-tanks-will-now-fight-russia-in-ukraine\/\" title=\"Challenger 2 Tanks Will Now Fight Russia in Ukraine\">internationally recognized territory<\/a> of Somalia,&rdquo; the ministry wrote. &ldquo;Any official presence, contact, or engagement undertaken within Somali territory without the explicit consent and authorization of the Federal Government of Somalia is illegal, null, and void, and carries no legal validity or effect.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The high-profile visit came after Israel <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/world\/4362115\/israel-first-un-country-recognize-somaliland-abraham-accords\/\">recognized Somaliland&rsquo;s sovereignty<\/a> late last month. The breakaway state declared its independence from Somalia in 1991, but it largely remains unrecognized at the international level. Israel was the first member of the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/united-nations\/\">U.N.<\/a> to fully establish diplomatic relations with the territory.<\/p>\n<p>Sa&rsquo;ar said it was a &ldquo;great honor&rdquo; to mark the first official state visit to Somaliland after Israel&rsquo;s recognition of the region.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The mutual recognition and establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries are not directed against anyone. Our shared objective is to promote the mutual benefit of both nations and countries,&rdquo; he <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/gidonsaar\/status\/2008539763960066343\">wrote on X<\/a>. &ldquo;In Hargeisa, I made it clear: Only Israel will decide whom it recognizes and with whom it maintains diplomatic relations.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The foreign minister confirmed the president of Somaliland accepted an invitation from Israeli Prime Minister <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/benjamin-netanyahu\/\">Benjamin Netanyahu<\/a> to visit the Jewish state soon.<\/p>\n<p>Sa&rsquo;ar&rsquo;s historic state visit coincided with a special meeting called by the African Union Peace and Security Council to condemn the newfound relationship between Israel and Somaliland. Somalia is one of the African Union&rsquo;s 55 members.<\/p>\n<p>While respecting Israel&rsquo;s recognition of Somaliland, the United States has not followed suit.
