Also never mind the fact that virtually no blood was shed. A few explosions, a few helicopters, and we had one of the most wanted narco-terrorists in the world. The most violence done, it seemed, was to the facility housing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/bernies-new-speechwriter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chavez&rsquo;s tomb<\/a>. He&rsquo;ll now face trial under the American judicial system, which &mdash; unlike his &mdash; isn&rsquo;t rigged, and won&rsquo;t end with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/venezuelas-maduro-desperate-keep-power-bizarre-sounding-solution-christmas-october\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">you getting tortured in a prison<\/a> for being political opposition.<\/p>\n<p>But you&rsquo;ve heard both the left and the heterodox\/libertarian right spew the same line: This was all about the oil, baby. They were, however, after Venezuela as part of their coalition. And they&rsquo;re not happy that Maduro took the Gitmo express out of Caracas early Saturday morning.<\/p>\n<p>It&rsquo;s also worth noting that this gentleman might even be <em>too<\/em> cynical.<\/p>\n<p>Keep in mind that the Chinese and Russians have good reason to keep the oil out of Western hands. China&rsquo;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/green-infrastructure-backers-stand-to-profit-from-govt-spending-boost\/\" title=\"\u2018Green Infrastructure\u2019 Backers Stand to Profit From Gov\u2019t Spending Boost\">fossil fuel production<\/a> is heavily dependent on countries that aren&rsquo;t dependable, and they need more than a few of these arrows in their energy quiver. With sanctions, meanwhile, Russia&rsquo;s economy is so dependent on the price of oil that, if it falls due to Venezuela&rsquo;s crude production coming back online quickly and getting into Western hands, the entirety of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/experts-reveal-us-led-sanctions-russia-accidentally-left-putin-lifeline\/\">Putin&rsquo;s war machine suffers greatly<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>America, meanwhile, is the world&rsquo;s largest oil producer &mdash; but might not be able to do it as economically if Venezuela&rsquo;s decimated oil infrastructure gets rebuilt, which the U.S. will no doubt help do as part of rebuilding the ruin Maduro left. In other words, we&rsquo;re shooting ourselves in the foot to help democracy. China and Russia were helping shoot Venezuelan dissidents by backing Maduro to <em>fight<\/em> it.<\/p>\n<p>When you consider that, maybe <em>we<\/em> were the ones who wanted the recipe for arepas.<\/p>\n<p>Whatever the case, this whole stupid argument, even if you accept the premises of those putting it forward, boils down to one question: Do you think the world will be safer with the United States calling the shots regarding Venezuela or with China or Russia calling the shots?
