The defendants, eight men and two women aged 41 to 65, received penalties including one six\u2011month prison term, several suspended sentences (four to eight months), mandatory cyberbullying awareness training, and temporary social\u2011media suspensions; some prison sentences can be served at home under conditions such as electronic monitoring. One prominent defendant, Delphine Jegousse (aka Amandine roy), was given six months after posting a lengthy YouTube video; Aur\u00e9lien Poirson\u2011Atlan (known as Zo\u00e9 Sagan) and a gallery owner received eight\u2011month terms. Trump Has That Now\">false claims<\/a> regarding alleged trans identity and alleged pedo criminality targeting Brigitte Macron. &ldquo;Repeated publications have had cumulative harmful effects,&rdquo; the court said.<\/p>\n<p>The defendants, eight men and two women aged 41 to 65, were accused of having posted numerous comments falsely claiming that President&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/hub\/emmanuel-macron\">Emmanuel Macron<\/a>&rsquo;s wife was born a man and likening their 24-year age gap to pedophilia. Some of the posts were viewed tens of thousands of times.<\/p>\n<p>Brigitte Macron did not attend the two-day trial in October. Speaking on TF1 national television Sunday, she said she launched legal proceedings to &ldquo;set an example&rdquo; in the fight against harassment.<\/p>\n<p>Her lawyer, Jean Ennochi, said Monday, &ldquo;what is important is that there are immediate cyberbullying awareness trainings, and for some of the defendants, a ban on using their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/sickening-video-shows-antifa-allegedly-stab-4-trump-supporters-in-washington-dc\/\" title=\"Sickening Video Shows Antifa Allegedly Stab 4 Trump Supporters in Washington DC\">social media accounts<\/a>.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Her daughter,&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/brigitte-macron-trial-paris-cyberbullying-france-9b369b9bf09b53cad9ece9f18c13fa28\">Tiphaine Auzi&egrave;re, testified<\/a>&nbsp;about what she described as the &ldquo;deterioration&rdquo; of her mother&rsquo;s life since the online harassment intensified. &ldquo;She cannot ignore the horrible things said about her,&rdquo; Auzi&egrave;re told the court. She said the impact has extended to the entire family, including Macron&rsquo;s grandchildren.<\/p>\n<p>One of the defendants, a property asset manager, received a six<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ohio-state-researcher-sentenced-to-prison-for-concealing-ties-to-chinese-spy-program\/\" title=\"Ohio State Researcher ...d to ... for Concealing Ties to Chinese Spy Program\">-month prison sentence<\/a>. Under French law, the sentence may be served at home, possibly while wearing an ankle monitor or following other requirements set by a judge.<\/p>\n<p>Defendant Delphine Jegousse, 51, who is known as Amandine Roy and describes herself as a medium and an author, is considered to have played a major role in spreading the rumor after she released a four-hour video on her YouTube channel in 2021. She was given a 6-month prison sentence.<\/p>\n<p>The X account of Aur&eacute;lien Poirson-Atlan, 41, known as Zo&eacute; Sagan on social media, was suspended in 2024 after his name was cited in several judicial investigations. Poirson-Atlan was given an 8-month prison sentence, along with another defendant, a gallery owner.<\/p>\n<p>The one defendant not given a prison sentence was a teacher, who apologized during the trial. He will have to attend the cyberbullying awareness training.<\/p>\n<p>Several will see their online access suspended for six months on the social media where they made their posts.<\/p>\n<p>The sentences were proportional to the seriousness of the comments, the court stressed.<\/p>\n<p>French judicial authorities didn&rsquo;t disclose the names of the defendants, but some made their names public by speaking out<\/p>\n<p>During the trial, several defendants told the court their comments were intended as humor or satire and said they did not understand why they were being prosecuted.<\/p>\n<p>The case follows years of <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >conspiracy theories falsely alleging<\/a> that Brigitte Macron was born under the name Jean-Michel Trogneux, which is actually the name of her brother. The Macrons have also&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/emmanuel-macron-brigitte-candace-owens-lawsuit-france-5bdfcc456e0e2b68af3e0e39d7c3062e\">filed a defamation suit<\/a>&nbsp;in the United States against conservative influencer&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/hub\/candace-owens\">Candace Owens<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Macrons, who have been&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/france-government-education-macron-russia-78d06e0f91c1085f706f87768c5fe885\">married since 2007<\/a>, first met at the high school where he was a student and she was a teacher.
