U.S. District Judge James Boasberg had set a Monday deadline requiring the government to either facilitate the Venezuelans&#8217; return to the United States or <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >provide due-process hearings<\/a>. The individuals were deported in March to a large Salvadoran prison as of alleged ties to the Tren de Aragua gang and were later transferred to Venezuela in a prisoner exchange. The DOJ said the Maduro arrest and resulting changes on the ground mean defendants need extra time to assess feasible remedies; Boasberg has not yet ruled on the request. As a result, the situation on the ground in Venezuela has changed dramatically. Defendants thus need additional time to determine the feasibility of various proposals.
