The radical Islamic organization is widely known as ISIS, and has been linked to a number of sweeping violent terrorist attacks, including a deadly mass shooting targeting Jews at an Australian Hanukkah celebration last month.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/washington-secrets\/4362775\/trump-first-year-report-card-promise-keeper-or-nightmare-failure\/\">TRUMP FIRST YEAR REPORT CARD: A- PROMISE KEEPER OR &lsquo;NIGHTMARE&rsquo; FAILURE<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Christian Sturdivant, 18, planned to &ldquo;attack a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/breaking-fbi-reportedly-foils-isis-linked-new-years-eve-terror-attack\/\" title=\"Breaking: ... Terror Attack\">specific grocery store<\/a> in North Carolina and discussed plans to purchase a firearm to use along with the knives during the attack,&rdquo; <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/opa\/pr\/fbi-disrupts-alleged-new-years-eve-attack-man-charged-attempting-provide-material-support\">prosecutors said<\/a>, adding evidence pointed to his support for the terrorist group.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;During his online communications with the OC, Sturdivant said, &lsquo;I will do jihad soon,&rsquo; and proclaimed he was &lsquo;a soldier of the state,&rsquo; meaning ISIS,&rdquo; according to the Justice Department.<\/p>\n<p>Sturdivant faces up to 20 years in prison if he is convicted, after officials said he shared plans for the attack with an undercover FBI employee posing as a supportive confidant. Investigators found handwritten documents titled &ldquo;New Year&rsquo;s Attack 2026&rdquo; at his residence, prosecutors added.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;It also listed a goal of stabbing as many civilians as possible and [the] total number of victims as 20 to 21. The note also included a section listed as &lsquo;martyrdom Op,&rsquo; with a plan to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/rep-marjorie-taylor-greene-defends-herself-against-dem-attacks\/\" title=\"Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene defends herself against Dem attacks\">attack police<\/a> that arrived at the site of the attack so the defendant would die a martyr,&rdquo; the Attorney&rsquo;s Office said.<\/p>\n<p>Sturdivant was under constant FBI surveillance for days prior to his arrest, including on Christmas, according to Ferguson. The fact that Sturdivant encountered two undercover officers while allegedly planning the attack should reassure the public, he added.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;&ldquo;At no point was the public in harm&rsquo;s way,&rdquo; Ferguson said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/crime\/3916447\/fbi-hunting-764-crime-network-targeting-children\/\"><strong>FBI &lsquo;HUNTING&rsquo; MORE THAN 350 PEOPLE IN &lsquo;764&rsquo; CRIME NETWORK TARGETING CHILDREN<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The alleged attack comes as the latest of <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/3917869\/doj-thwarts-new-years-eve-terrorist-plot-los-angeles-left-wing-group\/\">several terrorist incidents<\/a> that the FBI has recently said the agency has foiled.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In December, the DOJ announced it had arrested and charged multiple people accused of planning attacks in Los Angeles <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/crime\/3919904\/ex-marine-arrested-connection-terrorist-group-plot-new-orleans\/\">and New Orleans<\/a>.
