one that&rsquo;s centered in the state&rsquo;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/minnesota-gop-rep-tom-emmer-goes-scorched-earth-calls-denaturalization-deportation-every-somali-engaged-fraud\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Somali immigrant population<\/a>. On Friday, YouTube personality Nick Shirley lit a fuse under the powder keg with an explosive video that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/dhs-conducting-massive-operation-minneapolis-explosive-day-care-fraud-allegations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">quickly went viral<\/a>, showing taxpayer-funded &ldquo;day care&rdquo; centers in Minnesota with no children in evidence.<\/p>\n<p>Gerstein is pretty obviously predicting that efforts like Shirley&rsquo;s are going to keep happening, and that at some point, one of those &ldquo;day care&rdquo; center employees is going to turn violent.<\/p>\n<p>It&rsquo;s a combination of ignorance and malice that&rsquo;s so elegantly perverse that it&rsquo;s hard to make out which is worse. A more suspicious mind might think he&rsquo;s damn near salivating at the idea &mdash; even if he denied it in a follow-up post.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;To observe that something is likely to happen or there&rsquo;s a serious risk of it happening is not to advocate for it happening,&rdquo; he noted condescendingly.<\/p>\n<p>Right. And when <a href=\"https:\/\/englishhistory.net\/middle-ages\/will-no-one-rid-me-of-this-meddlesome-priest\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Henry II cried<\/a>, &ldquo;Will no one rid me of this meddlesome priest?&rdquo; it was a purely rhetorical question. They enshrine the right of self-defense in the face of a threat.<\/p>\n<p>And more to the point, Minnesota isn&rsquo;t a &ldquo;stand-your-ground&rdquo; state in the first place, much less a &ldquo;robust&rdquo; one. It&rsquo;s a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/dhs-conducting-massive-operation-minneapolis-explosive-day-care-fraud-allegations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&ldquo;duty to retreat&rdquo; state<\/a>, which means the law won&rsquo;t protect the use of deadly force in self-defense unless an individual has first attempted to escape a perceived threat.<\/p>\n<p>(Maybe he&rsquo;s confusing Democratic-run Minnesota with Republican states like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/army-sergeant-convicted-killing-armed-blm-protester-walking-free-governor-intervenes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Texas<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/fl-sheriff-man-defended-home-ak-47-style-gun-will-absolutely-not-face-charges\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Florida<\/a>, that actually respect the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/mexicos-attack-us-second-amendment-suffers-resounding-defeat-supreme-court\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Second Amendment<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>Gerstein was taking fire on pretty much every front.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Politico&rsquo;s legal affairs reporter all buts calls for Somalis to shoot and murder anyone who knocks on the doors of their businesses.
