He cited polling – including a Quinnipiac finding showing low approval for the party – and said DNC chair Ken Martin tried to downplay the results. Concha told Fox & Friends First that economic indicators (stock gains, low gas prices, an absence of recession) and expected tax cuts under Republicans mean simply branding Trump as hazardous won’t be enough. He also said the party’s energy is shifting to the far left, and urged more moderate, electable nominees (he invoked John Fetterman) rather than candidates like Alexandria Ocasio‑Cortez or Zohran Mamdani to win swing states. Nate Silver is quoted as surprised some Democrats won’t acknowledge 2024 mistakes, though he noted Trump’s unpopularity could still make similar tactics work. The piece also notes House Speaker Mike johnson’s criticism of Democrats and a separate survey showing the two parties tied on who’s better on the economy, with Democrats holding narrow leads on inflation and cost-of-living handling.

Democrats ‘need a plan’ different from 2024 to win 2026: Joe Concha

Washington Examiner senior writer Joe Concha said the Democratic Party may be “doomed to repeat” its losses in 2026 if a recent report indicates the status of the party ahead of the midterm elections.

Political pollster Nate Silver said in a recent interview with Semafor that he is somewhat surprised that some Democrats are unwilling to acknowledge “they f***ed up” in 2024, suggesting some data claim the problem with the presidential election was that Democrats did not fight hard enough for progressive ideas.
