The report says Homeland Security Investigations agents are on the ground in Minneapolis after <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >social-media footage showing apparently empty taxpayer-funded daycare centers whent viral<\/a>, drawing more than 100 million views. Officials and media accounts cited by the piece say investigations have focused on programs in somali-populated areas; the Associated Press was quoted as reporting that 82 of 92 defendants charged so far are Somali Americans. Prosecutors have called the scheme &#8220;industrial-scale,&#8221; and estimates of stolen federal funds cited in the article rose from about $1 billion to roughly $9 billion. Homeland Security posts from figures named in the article announced a surge of activity aimed at fraudulent daycare and healthcare centers, and included video of agents visiting targeted sites. Tim Walz<\/a>, &nbsp;the Democratic Party&rsquo;s most recent nominee for vice president of the United States &mdash; has been buffeted for weeks by a torrent of revelations about Minnesotans, including many Somali immigrants,&nbsp; abusing the state&rsquo;s generous <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/minnesotas-social-services-fraud-scandal-gets-even-worse-new-charges-filed-scope-widens\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">social welfare programs<\/a> for personal gain.<\/p>\n<p>While the amount originally estimated to have been stolen since 2018 was put in the ballpark of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/watch-tim-walz-tries-make-somali-fraud-scandal-seem-perfectly-normal-blames-trump-talking\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">$1 billion<\/a>, the figure is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/9-billion-looted-minnesota-medicaid-programs-massive-fraud-scheme-feds\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">now at $9 billion<\/a> &mdash; an &ldquo;industrial-scale fraud,&rdquo; as Assistant U.S. Attorney Joe Thompson put it in a Dec. 18 news conference, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/kstp.com\/ap-top-news\/half-of-18b-in-federal-funds-for-minnesota-run-programs-may-have-been-defrauded-official-says\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Associated Press<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday, YouTube personality <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/youtuber-nick-shirley-exposes-alleged-somali-daycare-center-reportedly-reaped-4000000-taxpayers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nick Shirley posted video<\/a> that added fuel to the already-raging fire, showing taxpayer-funded day care centers in Minnesota that appeared to be operating with no children present.<\/p>\n<p>To say the video went viral would be an understatement.
