Nancy Wilson of Heart objected to &#8220;Barracuda&#8221; being played at a military parade, saying the song wasn&#8217;t intended for political use and that the band had not authorized it. Pop singer Sabrina Carpenter condemned a White House video about ICE and deportations that featured her song &#8220;Juno,&#8221; calling the post &#8220;evil and repulsive&#8221;; the White House defended its messaging but the original post was later deleted. Members of Semisonic also rebuked the administration for using &#8220;Closing Time&#8221; in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/irs-whistleblowers-who-investigated-hunter-biden-get-big-promotion-at-treasury\/\" title=\"IRS whistleblowers who investigated Hunter Biden get big promotion at Treasury\">viral deportation video<\/a>, saying the song&#8217;s message was misinterpreted; the White House initially defended the use and then removed the post and reuploaded a version without the song. in a social media post without her permission.<\/p>\n<p>The <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/section\/news\/white-house\/\">White House<\/a> released a video compilation of anti-<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/ICE\">Immigration and Customs Enforcement<\/a> protesters on Dec. 1. During a transition in the video, clips of anonymous protesters being arrested in various positions are shown alongside Carpenter&rsquo;s lyrics, &ldquo;Wanna try out some freaky positions \/ Have you ever tried this one?&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>By the next day, the video had garnered over 1 million views, prompting a response from Carpenter:<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">this video is evil and disgusting. At the time of the election, Carpenter was on her national &ldquo;Short n&rsquo; Sweet Tour.&rdquo; However, while performing at <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/seattle\/\">Seattle&rsquo;s<\/a> Climate Pledge Arena on Nov. 6, 2024, she expressed her disappointment in the election results.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I hope we can be a moment of peace for you, a moment of safety,&rdquo; Carpenter <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/pop\/sabrina-carpenter-seattle-sorry-about-our-country-presidential-election-1235822197\/\">said at the time<\/a>, according to <em>Billboard<\/em>. &ldquo;Sorry about our country and to the women in here, I love you so so so so so much, and I really hope for the rest of this night that you can enjoy yourselves because you absolutely deserve it.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The White House has stood by using Carpenter&rsquo;s song amid its social media campaign. White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson paraphrased more of Carpenter&rsquo;s lyrics in a statement to the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em>:<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Here&rsquo;s a Short n&rsquo; Sweet message for Sabrina Carpenter: we won&rsquo;t apologize for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/sabrina-carpenter-condemns-use-of-her-song-in-white-house-video\/\" title=\"... condemns use of her ... in ...\">deporting dangerous criminal illegal murderers<\/a>, rapists, and pedophiles from our country,&rdquo; Jackson said. &ldquo;Anyone who would defend these sick monsters must be stupid, or is it slow?&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The original White House post using Carpenter&rsquo;s song was ultimately deleted from X.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-semisonic\">Semisonic<\/h2>\n<p>Members of the rock band Semisonic said the White House &ldquo;missed the point&rdquo; of its hit single &ldquo;Closing Time&rdquo; after it was used in a viral video showcasing <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/3350969\/semisonic-slams-white-house-use-of-closing-time-song-viral-deportation-video\/\">shackled illegal immigrants<\/a> being deported in March.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We did not authorize or condone the White House&rsquo;s use of our song &lsquo;Closing Time&rsquo; in any way.
