We are not out to score points with one side of the political spectrum or to win followers on social media,&rdquo; she wrote.&nbsp;&ldquo;We are out to inform the public and get the story right.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>CBS received a wave of criticism after it announced the decision to pull the segment from Sunday night&rsquo;s <em>60 Minutes<\/em> airing, including from the correspondent featured in the episode.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Sharyn Alfonsi, the correspondent in the segment, <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/immigration\/4355263\/60-minutes-cbs-cecot-bari-weiss-sharyn-alfonsi\/\">accused Weiss of &ldquo;spiking&rdquo; the segment<\/a> and called it a &ldquo;political&rdquo; decision.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;If the standard for airing a story becomes &lsquo;the government must agree to be interviewed&rsquo; then the <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >government effectively gains control<\/a> over the <em>60 Minutes<\/em> broadcast. We go from an investigative powerhouse to stenographer for the state,&rdquo; she wrote in an email to staff.<\/p>\n<p>Weiss argued, at the time, that the segment was &ldquo;not ready&rdquo; and &ldquo;did not advance the ball.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>In a statement to the <em>New York Times<\/em> on Sunday, Weiss said, &ldquo;I <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2025\/12\/21\/business\/60-minutes-trump-bari-weiss.html\">look forward to airing<\/a> this important piece when it&rsquo;s ready.&rdquo;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/business\/4355833\/paramount-sweetens-hostile-bid-warner-bros\/\"><strong>PARAMOUNT SWEETENS HOSTILE BID FOR WARNER BROS.
