Ridiculous!&rdquo;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The president had promised to help Ulbricht during a speech at the Libertarian Party National Convention in May 2024.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-changpeng-zhao\">Changpeng Zhao<\/h2>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao answers a question during a Zoom meeting interview with The Associated Press on Nov. 16, 2021. (AP Photo, File)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Changpeng Zhao, founder of Binance, the world&rsquo;s largest <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/cryptocurrency\/\">cryptocurrency<\/a> exchange, was pardoned by Trump in October.&nbsp;Zhao was sentenced to four months in prison in April 2024 after pleading guilty to violating money laundering laws. Zhao and Binance have been key supporters of the Trump family&rsquo;s crypto enterprises.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Deeply grateful for today&rsquo;s pardon and to President Trump for upholding America&rsquo;s commitment to fairness, innovation, and justice,&rdquo; Zhao posted on social media.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Trump, however, downplayed his relationship with Zhao, telling reporters that he had never met the crypto king but that &ldquo;he was recommended by a lot of people.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;A lot of people say that he wasn&rsquo;t guilty of anything,&rdquo; Trump said. &ldquo;He served four months in jail, and they say that he was not guilty of anything.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-george-santos\">George Santos<\/h2>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Former New York Rep. (AP Photo\/Alex Brandon, File)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Former New York Republican Rep. <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/george-santos\/\">George Santos <\/a>was sentenced in April to seven years in federal prison after pleading guilty to fraud and identity theft charges.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Santos admitted to deceiving donors and stealing the identities of nearly a dozen people, including family members, to make illegal&nbsp;donations to his campaign.&nbsp;He reported to a minimum-security prison in New Jersey housing fewer than 50 other inmates in July. He was out by October.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;George Santos was somewhat of a &lsquo;rogue,&rsquo; but there are many rogues throughout our Country that aren&rsquo;t forced to serve seven years in prison,&rdquo; Trump <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/posts\/115391767709119144\">posted on Truth Social<\/a>. He said he had &ldquo;just signed a Commutation, releasing George Santos from prison, IMMEDIATELY.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Good luck George, have a great life!&rdquo; Trump said.<\/p>\n<p>Santos complained about life in lock up, regularly&nbsp;writing for the <em>South Shore Press<\/em>, a Long Island newspaper. He also pleaded to Trump to <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/crime\/3855728\/trump-commutes-rogue-ex-house-republican-george-santoss-sentence\/\">get him out of prison<\/a>, citing his loyalty to the president&rsquo;s agenda and the GOP.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Sir, I appeal to your sense of justice and humanity &mdash; the same qualities that have inspired millions of Americans to believe in you,&rdquo; Santos wrote. &ldquo;I humbly ask that you consider the unusual pain and hardship of this environment and allow me the opportunity to return to my family, my friends, and my community.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Santos was sworn into the U.S. House of Representatives in 2023 under a cloud of suspicion,&nbsp;involving skepticism of his credentials and campaign expenditures.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>He was first busted by the&nbsp;<em>New York Times<\/em>&nbsp;for embellishing his background and lying about his family, religion, education, work experience, sexuality, and perhaps even an animal rescue charity he allegedly founded.<\/p>\n<p>A House Ethics Committee report found Santos spent donations from his supporters on products from Sephora, luxury trips, and OnlyFans subscriptions.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-juan-orlando-hernandez\">Juan Orlando Hernandez<\/h2>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernandez speaks during the opening ceremony of the U.N. Andy Buchanan\/Pool via AP, File)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Trump raised eyebrows in December when he pardoned Hernandez, the president of <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/honduras\/\">Honduras<\/a> from 2014 to 2022, who was serving a 45-year sentence in a West Virginia prison. Hernandez was involved in a drug trafficking operation that moved more than 400 tons of cocaine into the United States.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The two-term president was extradited to the United States and arrested in 2022 after he left office. He was convicted in March 2024 after a jury trial and sentenced in June 2024.<\/p>\n<p>His release came just days after Honduras&rsquo;s presidential election.<\/p>\n<p>Trump defended his decision aboard Air Force One, telling reporters Hondurans believed Hernandez had been &ldquo;set up.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Hernandez&rsquo;s pardon faced extra scrutiny because it came amid the Trump administration&rsquo;s aggressive efforts to target Latin American drug traffickers accused of trying to smuggle drugs into the U.S.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-henry-cuellar\">Henry Cuellar<\/h2>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Rep. Cuellar was indicted in 2024 on bribery and money laundering charges. Cuellar, who describes himself as a conservative Democrat, thanked the president in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/why-this-average-american-is-voting-for-donald-trump\/\" title=\"Why This Average American Is Voting for Donald Trump\">social media post<\/a> for his &ldquo;tremendous leadership&rdquo; and praised him for &ldquo;taking the time to look at the facts.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>In a <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/posts\/115678452939414622\">Truth Social post<\/a>, Trump said he never spoke to Cuellar, his wife, or his daughters, but felt good about &ldquo;fighting for a family that was tormented by very sick and deranged people &ndash; They were treated sooo BADLY!&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><strong><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/white-house\/3909816\/trump-cuellar-loyalty-democrat-reelection-pardon\/\">TRUMP RIPS CUELLAR&rsquo;S &lsquo;LACK OF LOYALTY&rsquo; FOR RUNNING AS DEMOCRAT IN REELECTION BID AFTER PARDON<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>That feeling turned icy a few days later when Cuellar filed to&nbsp;run again as a Democrat, something that seemed to take Trump by surprise.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Zapata County Republican Chairwoman Jennifer Thatcher <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.texastribune.org\/2025\/12\/15\/henry-cuellar-trump-pardon-local-gop-fallout-disappointed\/\">told <\/a>the <em>Texas Tribune<\/em> she was shocked when she heard about the pardon.
