Audrey illeene Carroll, Zachary Aaron Page, Dante James Anthony-Gaffield, and Tina cheng-Ting Lai face counts including providing or attempting to provide material support to terrorists and possession of unregistered firearms; Carroll and Page are additionally charged with conspiracy to use a weapon of mass destruction. U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli said the charges reflect the seriousness of a planned terrorist attack and warned the defendants could face decades in prison.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities say Carroll, using the codenames &#8220;Black moon&#8221; and &#8220;Asiginaak,&#8221; authored an eight-page plan called &#8220;Operation Midnight Sun&#8221; targeting tech and logistics firms and perhaps ICE personnel, timing explosions to be masked by fireworks. Investigators allege the <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >group procured bomb-making materials<\/a>, tested improvised explosive devices in the Mojave Desert on Dec. 12, and were arrested at the testing site before functional bombs were made. Evidence at Carroll&#8217;s residence included posters with anti-american and pro-Turtle Island\/Palestine slogans. All four remain in federal custody without bond; arraignments are scheduled for January. U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli said in <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/usao-cdca\/pr\/grand-jury-charges-four-members-anti-government-group-terrorism-felonies-stemming-new\">a press release<\/a>. &ldquo;If convicted, this group of self-professed left-wing radicals will face decades in federal prison.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/3917869\/doj-thwarts-new-years-eve-terrorist-plot-los-angeles-left-wing-group\/\"><strong>DOJ THWARTS &lsquo;HORRIFIC&rsquo; Essayli added.<\/p>\n<p>The co-defendants allegedly belong to the Turtle Island Liberation Front, a cohort of pro-Palestinian and Native American activists <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DQA77FfDHHh\/?img_index=6\">seeking<\/a> to reclaim &ldquo;stolen land,&rdquo; specifically Turtle Island, an indigenous name for North America, from so-called &ldquo;colonist settlers.&rdquo; TILF&rsquo;s members similarly <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DRmOj1Ukcj8\/\">believe<\/a> that native Palestinians have been driven out of their &ldquo;occupied&rdquo; homeland.<\/p>\n<p>According to images included in the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Carroll-complaint.pdf\">criminal complaint<\/a>, posters found at Carroll&rsquo;s residence said &ldquo;Death to America&rdquo; and &ldquo;Long Live Turtle Island and Palestine.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/investigations\/3918139\/what-we-know-turtle-island-liberation-front-charged-terrorist-plot\/\"><strong>WHAT WE KNOW ABOUT THE TURTLE ISLAND LIBERATION FRONT<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Carroll, codename &ldquo;Black Moon&rdquo; and &ldquo;Asiginaak,&rdquo; is accused of crafting an eight-page, handwritten document, titled &ldquo;Operation Midnight Sun,&rdquo; that outlined TILF&rsquo;s plan to target multiple &ldquo;marks&rdquo; across Los Angeles on New Year&rsquo;s Eve.<\/p>\n<p>New Year&rsquo;s Eve was chosen as an opportune time to detonate the bombs simultaneously, as the fireworks were intended to mask the sound of the explosions.<\/p>\n<p>According to federal officials, when detonated, the coordinated bombings were designed to &ldquo;completely pulverize&rdquo; their intended targets, which included technology and logistics companies with offices in Southern California.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to five identified targets, more &ldquo;marks&rdquo; could have been targeted &ldquo;if enough comrades&rdquo; assembled, according to an operational blueprint intercepted by the FBI. According to probable cause statements, the suspects conspired to target Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers and vehicles, intending to &ldquo;take some of them out and scare the rest of them.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Mugshots of TILF members arrested by federal authorities. (Department of Justice)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Carroll allegedly recruited Page, Anthony-Gaffield, and Lai after devising the attack plan, and they communicated through an encrypted Signal chat called &ldquo;Order of the Black Lotus.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>According to authorities, the defendants procured bomb-making materials throughout December to build and then test improvised explosive devices in the Mojave Desert on Dec. 12, including by obtaining potassium nitrate, sulfur, charcoal powder, and PVC pipes.<\/p>\n<p>Officials said federal officers apprehended the suspects at the scene of the testing site before they could make functional bombs. The suspects &ldquo;all <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/what-we-know-about-the-turtle-island-liberation-front-charged-in-terrorist-plot\/\" title=\"What we know about the ... charged in terrorist plot\">brought bomb-making components<\/a> to the campsite,&rdquo; an FBI affidavit alleged.<\/p>\n<p>All four suspected co-conspirators remain in federal custody without bond.
