She was spotted during the store&#8217;s &#8220;Shop wiht a Cop&#8221; event, which had an unusually large police presence; officers found $253 in her cart and about $900 in allegedly stolen goods in her car. Malak told police she was &#8220;just trying to get gifts for her kids,&#8221; admitted to stealing and reportedly said she &#8220;would have shoplifted again&#8221; but changed her mind because of the officers on site. \t\t\t\t}); \t\t\t} \t\t<\/script> <\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox6now.com\/news\/accused-shoplifter-hartford-surprised-store-was-teeming-police\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WITI-TV<\/a>, an <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >accused shoplifter apparently returned<\/a> to a Walmart in Hartford, Wisconsin, just three days after allegedly lifting $600 worth of merchandise.<\/p>\n<p>But this second venture to Walmart for Sophia Malak, 24, would prove to be a slightly different situation.<\/p>\n<p>This time around, the Walmart was teeming with police officers who were there for the annual, countrywide event known as &ldquo;Shop with a Cop.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The event is exactly what it sounds like &mdash; underprivileged youths get to go on a shopping spree with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/celebrity-chef-delivers-food-to-d-c-law-enforcement\/\" title=\"Celebrity chef delivers food to D.C. law enforcement\">local police officers<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It&rsquo;s a great program that not only gets children some awesome Christmas gifts, but also fosters a better relationship between police and community.<\/p>\n<p>Well, it&rsquo;s a great program for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/california-sheriffs-tell-newsom-they-wont-enforce-covid-curfew\/\" title=\"California Sheriffs Tell Newsom They Won&#039;t Enforce COVID Curfew\">law-abiding citizens<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>For Malak? Not so much.<\/p>\n<p>Three days after allegedly stealing the $600 of merchandise, Malak was back in the same store, this time with &ldquo;just&rdquo; $253 worth of stuff in her cart.<\/p>\n<p>Much to her chagrin, police recognized her, given it had been just a few days since her last alleged heist.<\/p>\n<p>When confronted, Malak explained to the police that she was &ldquo;just trying to get gifts for her kids.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Eventually, she not only admitted to stealing, but told detectives that &ldquo;she would have shoplifted again.&rdquo; She then claimed she &ldquo;changed her mind&rdquo; due to the volume of officers on the premises.<\/p>\n<p>The real kicker, though, is apparently the $900 worth of allegedly stolen goods that were in her car, which officers discovered.<\/p>\n<p>She now faces a felony charge for retail theft.
