The biblical story of King David bested the studio&#8217;s earlier hit Sound of Freedom (which opened to about $19 million) and outgrossed The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants, which opened to $16 million. DAVID has earned strong audience praise &#8211; a 98% moviegoer approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and an A CinemaScore &#8211; and <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >received generally positive critical reviews<\/a>. Angel Studios Head of Theatrical brandon Purdie credited demand for values-driven films and said the studio expects a robust, extended theatrical run over the holiday season.
