U.S. District Judge Paula Xinis said she will continue the bar while she considers whether to lift it and pressed the Justice Department for clarity about its removal plans.Xinis earlier ordered Abrego Garcia released after finding no valid removal order; the government later obtained a final removal order but the judge kept detention halted pending further review. The case has been a nearly yearlong saga: Abrego Garcia was deported to el Salvador in March despite a withholding-of-removal order, was later returned to the U.S. after court intervention, faced criminal human-smuggling charges, was released pretrial in August, and was later rearrested by immigration officers. The DOJ has suggested several possible countries for removal (including Uganda, Eswatini, Ghana, and Liberia), while his lawyers say Costa Rica has agreed to accept him. Shortly after Xinis issued her order, the Trump administration got a final removal order for Abrego Garcia from an immigration judge, fixing the discrepancy, but Xinis&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/3916020\/abrego-garcia-vows-fight-against-trump-administration\/\">still halted<\/a>&nbsp;ICE from detaining him pending Monday&rsquo;s hearing.<\/p>\n<p>The hearing on Monday was the latest part of a nearly yearlong saga over the deportation of Abrego Garcia, which first <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >garnered national headlines earlier<\/a> this year. The Salvadoran national was deported to his native El Salvador in March, despite having a withholding of removal order barring him from being deported to El Salvador, but allowing deportation to any other country.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/3916020\/abrego-garcia-vows-fight-against-trump-administration\/\">ABREGO GARCIA VOWS TO &lsquo;FIGHT&rsquo; AGAINST TRUMP ADMINISTRATION AS JUDGE PROHIBITS FURTHER DETENTION<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After Xinis, an appeals court, and the Supreme Court ordered the federal government to facilitate Abrego Garcia&rsquo;s return to the United States, he was brought back in June to face criminal human smuggling charges. He was released from pretrial custody in August and was rearrested by federal immigration officers days later. Abrego Garcia had been in federal immigration custody until Dec. 11, when Xinis ordered him released.<\/p>\n<p>While the withholding of the removal order remains in place, federal immigration officials have searched for another country to deport Abrego Garcia to. The DOJ has floated several potential countries in court filings, including Uganda, Eswatini, Ghana, and Liberia, while Abrego Garcia&rsquo;s lawyers have pointed to Costa Rica, a country they said has agreed to take him, as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-announces-revamped-homeland-security-council-with-huge-names-on-board\/\" title=\"...
