Of those surveyed, 68 percent said they approved of the deal that ended the <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2025\/11\/12\/government-shutdown-ends-trump-signs-bill\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">longest-ever<\/a> U.S. government shutdown in November.<\/p>\n<p>Still, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2025\/12\/05\/us\/politics\/trump-approval-rating.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">some<\/a>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2025\/11\/24\/voters-seriously-unhappy-trumps-economic-policies-poll\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">polls<\/a> released in recent months have indicated that many Americans feel <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pewresearch.org\/short-reads\/2025\/10\/03\/most-americans-continue-to-rate-the-us-economy-negatively-as-partisan-gap-widens\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">pessimistic<\/a> about Trump&rsquo;s approach to the U.S. economy. Voters&rsquo; confidence in the economy dropped to a 17-month low in November, <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2025\/12\/04\/confidence-economy-plummets-gallup-poll\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">according<\/a> to a survey from Gallup released Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, some American business owners have <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2025\/12\/08\/next-year-worse-us-businesses-ringing-warning-bell-trumps-tariffs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reportedly<\/a> highlighted concerns that Trump&rsquo;s <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2025\/12\/08\/china-brushes-off-trump-tariffs-with-jaw-dropping-1-trillion-surplus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">tariffs<\/a> could potentially force businesses to raise consumer costs in the new year.<\/p>\n<p>Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2025\/12\/02\/donald-trump-affordability-democrat-scam-prices-economy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">claimed<\/a> on Dec. 2 that the word &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2025\/12\/05\/hugh-hewitt-affordability-gop-november-election\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">affordability<\/a>&rdquo; is a &ldquo;Democrat scam,&rdquo; also suggesting he does not believe that Democrats want to improve the U.S. economy. The president&rsquo;s comments came just days after he referred to himself as the &ldquo;affordability president&rdquo; in a Nov. 29 social media <a href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/posts\/115633174669225455\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">post<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>While on the campaign trail in 2024, Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=U3EYJv35Tz0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pledged<\/a> to &ldquo;make America affordable again&rdquo; if he won re-election.
