Diaz, a Honduran national with multiple illegal entries into the U.S., was sentenced in 2022 for his crime but avoided an additional two-year sentence related to his immigration offenses. The judge praised Diaz for his &#8220;family devotion&#8221; and described him as an &#8220;ambassador for living up to our immigration restrictions,&#8221; statements that drew strong condemnation. The Department of Homeland Security and legal officials labeled the judge&#8217;s ruling as a miscarriage of justice, and prosecutors are appealing the lenient sentence. Refuses To Stop Vaccine Mandate From Indiana University\">federal judge declined<\/a> to impose an additional two-year sentence related to his illegal entry into the U.S., not the sex crime.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/department-of-homeland-security\/\">Department of Homeland Security<\/a> spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin said the ruling reflected &ldquo;unspeakable depravity&rdquo; on the judge&rsquo;s part.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;U.S. District Judge Judith Levy refused to sentence him to 2 more years for immigration crimes and called this monster a future &lsquo;ambassador for living up to our immigration restrictions,&#8217;&rdquo; McLaughlin <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/triciaohio\/status\/1999903030284599656?s=46&amp;t=aOOy8YEKiQSfdQpJkUhBhQ\">said on X<\/a>, citing a report from a Detroit newspaper. &ldquo;This Obama appointed judge went on to praise him for &lsquo;family devotion and willingness to perform work that it claimed Americans find undesirable.&#8217;&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Truly wicked,&rdquo; she added.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. Attorney&rsquo;s Office for the Eastern District of Michigan is appealing Diaz&rsquo;s lenient sentence, so that he can receive a stronger punishment. Prosecutors argued the judge made several mistakes and found her reasoning odd for rejecting the enhanced sentence.<\/p>\n<p>Oddly, the judge commended the defendant for taking responsibility by serving his sentence for the sex crime.
