These groups accuse the FDA of delaying the review and continuing to support policies that allow abortion pills to be distributed by mail, which they claim endangers women and unborn children. The director of Legal Affairs at Susan B. Anthony Pro-life America called for Makary to be fired for &#8220;slow-walking&#8221; the promised safety study and urged the FDA to reinstate previous safeguards and be transparent about the review process. The American Association of Pro-Life OB-GYNs also expressed frustration over the FDA&#8217;s approval of a second generic version of the drug despite pledging an urgent review, citing serious physical and mental health risks associated with the pill. The Department of Health and Human Services defended the review process as comprehensive and science-based. Prescribers Risks Lives\">abortion drugs online<\/a><\/a> and forced them down his pregnant girlfriend&rsquo;s throat.&rdquo;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;His horrific action was possible because of the FDA&rsquo;s mail-order policy,&rdquo; Daniel said.<\/p>\n<p>When reached,&nbsp;HHS press secretary Emily Hilliard told The Center Square: &ldquo;FDA takes the time necessary to conduct comprehensive scientific reviews, and that is what Dr. Makary is ensuring as part of the Department&rsquo;s commitment to gold-standard science and evidence-based reviews.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The American Association of Pro Life OBGYNs (AAPLOG) also&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/aaplog\/status\/1998441469116559639?s=20\">finds issue<\/a>&nbsp;with the FDA slow-walking its promised &ldquo;urgent review of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/texas-dem-leads-charge-against-bidens-mail-order-abortion-regs\/\" title=\"Texas Dem Leads Charge Against Biden\u2019s ...-Order Abortion Regs\">dangerous abortion pills<\/a>,&rdquo; stating: &ldquo;No more empty promises.&rdquo;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>AAPLOG CEO Dr. Christina Francis told The Center Square that &ldquo;despite promising a thorough review of the safety of mifepristone, [the FDA has] not only apparently stalled the process for political gain but also approved a second generic version.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;It&rsquo;s a clear case of speaking out of both sides of their mouth, breaking promises to the pro-life movement and to the American public,&rdquo; Francis said.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;But women&rsquo;s lives are on the line, and that&rsquo;s something we cannot ignore as physicians who care deeply for our patients,&rdquo; Francis said. &ldquo;The FDA shouldn&rsquo;t either.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Francis explained that &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/republicans-call-for-universities-that-provide-chemical-abortions-to-lose-funding\/\" title=\"Republicans Call For Universities That Provide Chemical Abortions To Lose Funding\">chemical abortion pills<\/a> have not only ended the lives of millions of preborn children but have also caused significant harm to women.&rdquo;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Physical complications are not uncommon and include hemorrhage, retained tissue, severe infections, and the need for emergency surgery,&rdquo; Francis said.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The mental health impact is equally alarming, as many women are never told, or are not prepared for the fact, that they will endure labor and then likely see their baby and sometimes even watch their baby die,&rdquo; Francis said.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;This is leading to cases of PTSD and has the long-term impact of increasing rates of depression, substance abuse, and even suicide,&rdquo; Francis said.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;As a professional medical organization representing nearly 8,000 medical professionals across the country, AAPLOG hopes the FDA will stop making empty promises and do its job,&rdquo; Francis said. &ldquo;The health and safety of our patients depend on it, and they deserve better than political maneuvers.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>In October, the FDA faced criticism for&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thecentersquare.com\/national\/article_3237c713-9fa5-4ec7-9e6f-f04ed9128d1f.html\">approving a generic version<\/a>&nbsp;of the abortion pill despite its promises to review data on the dangers of the drug&nbsp;mifepristone, as Christina Francise referred to.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/healthcare\/3911768\/anti-abortion-groups-major-test-obamacare-subsidy-legislation\/\">ANTI-ABORTION GROUPS FACE MAJOR TEST OVER OBAMACARE SUBSIDY LEGISLATION<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Additionally, as SBA&rsquo;s Katie Daniel pointed out, &ldquo;The American people do not support unrestricted mail-order abortion.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;A&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/sbaprolife.org\/newsroom\/press-releases\/breaking-7-in-10-voters-want-to-roll-back-biden-covid-abortion-drug-policy-reinstate-in-person-doctor-visits\">recent poll<\/a>&nbsp;found 8 in 10 voters agree no one should be able to get abortion drugs online or from a foreign country and be able to give them to a woman without her knowledge or consent,&rdquo;
