A memo sent to National Park service leaders requires a review of all retail products by December 19 to ensure compliance with Interior Department Order 3416, titled &#8220;Ending DEI Programs and Gender Ideology Extremism.&#8221; This order, rooted in a Trump-era executive order, mandates that park <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >gift shops remain neutral spaces<\/a> and prohibits products supporting DEI, environmental justice, or related themes. We&rsquo;re working closely with our partners to make sure this process is smooth and doesn&rsquo;t disrupt the visitor experience. If any items are found to be inconsistent with the Order, they are being removed from sale,&rdquo; the Interior Department said in a statement to the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The November memo gives park leaders until Dec. 19 to conduct reviews of their stores to ensure all products fall in line with the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.doi.gov\/document-library\/secretary-order\/so-3416-ending-dei-programs-and-gender-ideology-extremism\">order<\/a>, meaning the items do not promote DEI, &ldquo;diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility,&rdquo; and &ldquo;environmental justice.&rdquo; Items that do not fall in line with the order after the review &ldquo;must be removed from sale immediately,&rdquo; the Interior Department memo obtained by the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.npca.org\/articles\/11230-administration-orders-sham-review-of-park-gift-shops\">National Parks Conservation Association<\/a> reads.<\/p>\n<p>The NPCA, a nonprofit group that calls itself &ldquo;the voice of America&rsquo;s national parks,&rdquo; released a statement on the memo, standing against the review.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/3909714\/national-park-service-alters-free-entry-days\/\">NATIONAL PARK SERVICE ALTERS FREE ENTRY DAYS, ADDS TRUMP&rsquo;S BIRTHDAY AND REMOVES MLK DAY, JUNETEENTH<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The National Parks Conservation Association opposes this latest move from the administration because we, like the majority of Americans, support telling the full American story at our parks.
