(Jefferson Siegel\/The New York Times via AP, Pool)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Gabe Roth, executive director of Fix the Court, filed a judicial misconduct <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/fixthecourt.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Bove-complaint-GR-12.10.25ff.pdf\">complaint against Bove<\/a> on Wednesday over his attendance at the Trump event. Fix the Court was originally founded as a project of New Venture Fund, which is managed by the&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/646141\/supreme-court-transparency-group-hammered-by-judiciary-gop-over-irs-donor-blunder\/\">left-wing dark money group<\/a>&nbsp;Arabella Advisers.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;It should have been obvious to Judge Bove, either at the start of the rally or fairly close to it, that this was a highly charged, highly political event that no federal judge should have been within shouting distance of,&rdquo; Roth wrote in the complaint.<\/p>\n<p>When asked for comment on Fix the Court&rsquo;s complaint, the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/section\/news\/white-house\/\">White House<\/a> referred the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em> to communications director Steven Cheung&rsquo;s statement, which <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/StevenCheung47\/status\/1998544901521420294?s=20\">blasted a <em>Politico<\/em> reporter&rsquo;s tweet<\/a> that said it was &ldquo;highly unusual&rdquo; for Bove to attend the event as &ldquo;pearl-clutching.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;No it&rsquo;s not. Stop your pearl-clutching. An American citizen is at an event listening to the President of the United States speak. In your world, you&rsquo;d rather give rights to illegal criminals over Americans,&rdquo; Cheung said.<\/p>\n<p>Roth pointed to the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.uscourts.gov\/file\/25752\/download\">code of conduct<\/a> for judges in his complaint, specifically Canon 2 and Canon 5.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Canon 2 states that a judge &lsquo;should avoid impropriety and the appearance of impropriety in all activities.&rsquo; Attending a Trump event &mdash; and not leaving when it became clear that the speech was, in fact, a partisan rally &mdash; violates this canon,&rdquo; Roth wrote. &ldquo;Canon 5 states that a judge &lsquo;should refrain from political activity.&rsquo; Last night&rsquo;s event in Pennsylvania was barely distinguishable (i.e., only temporally) from a Trump rally in 2020 or 2024, both of which were obvious political activities.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>A spokeswoman for Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/chuck-grassley\/\">Chuck Grassley<\/a> (R-IA), Clare Slattery, told <em>Bloomberg Law<\/em> that Trump&rsquo;s speech &ldquo;was <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/news.bloomberglaw.com\/us-law-week\/republicans-press-roberts-on-ethics-of-anonymous-judge-criticism\">an official White House event<\/a> highlighting kitchen table issues that impact all Americans.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Where&rsquo;s the outrage over federal judges who&rsquo;ve potentially violated the judicial Code of Conduct by trashing their own branch of government in recent statements to the press?&rdquo; Slattery told <em>Bloomberg. <\/em>Grassley and House Judiciary Committee Chairman <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/jim-jordan\/\">Jim Jordan<\/a> (R-OH) have <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.grassley.senate.gov\/news\/news-releases\/grassley-jordan-call-on-chief-justice-roberts-to-address-federal-judges-possible-ethics-violations\">raised code of conduct concerns<\/a> about federal judges who they say have anonymously made &ldquo;inflammatory comments&rdquo;
