These small vehicles, similar to Japan&#8217;s &#8220;kei&#8221; cars, are described as inexpensive, safe, fuel-efficient, and available in gasoline, electric, or hybrid models. Trump encouraged U.S. automakers to begin manufacturing such cars,pointing to their success in Asian markets like Japan,South Korea,and Malaysia. However, experts note that while there are no minimum size regulations in the U.S., kei cars typically do not meet American crash safety standards due to their small size. START BUILDING THEM NOW!&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this week, <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/white-house\/3902896\/white-house-trump-mri-preventative-health-excellent-karoline-leavitt\/\">Trump<\/a> suggested during an Oval Office event with U.S. auto executives that domestic car companies should produce their own versions of the tiny cars available in Asian markets.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;If you go to Japan, where I just left, if you go to South Korea, Malaysia, and other countries, they have a very small car, sort of like the Beetle used to be with Volkswagen,&rdquo;&nbsp;the president said, calling the cars &ldquo;really cute.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;And I said, &lsquo;How would that do in this country?&rsquo; Everyone seems to think good, but you&rsquo;re not allowed to build them,&rdquo; he continued. &ldquo;I&rsquo;ve authorized the secretary to immediately approve the production of those cars.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Though no current regulation on minimum car size exists in the U.S., analysts say that Trump was likely referring to Japanese &ldquo;kei&rdquo;
