Illinois data shows nearly 20% of CDL holders with English language proficiency issues have licenses issued by the state. Miller has personally confirmed concerns about many truckers who cannot speak English well. She advocates for the &#8220;Safe Driving Law Act,&#8221; which would cut half of the highway funding to states like Illinois that fail to address the problem.Miller also wants to target trucking companies employing such drivers. Illinois requires CDL applicants to be U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents, with some exceptions for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients. Meanwhile, Illinois Senator Dick Durbin is pushing for the Dream Act to provide DACA recipients a legal pathway if they meet certain requirements, including passing English proficiency tests. U.S. Rep. The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services said it will accept initial DACA requests, but is not processing them at this time. Related federal documents remain valid until they expire, unless individually terminated, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/democrats-block-every-effort-to-keep-noncitizens-from-voting\/\" title=\"Democrats Block Every Effort To Keep Noncitizens From Voting\">federal agency&#038;rsquo<\/a>;s website said.<\/p>\n<p>Illinois U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Springfield, reintroduced the Dream Act Thursday, a bipartisan bill he&rsquo;s proposed for years to allow DACA recipients a pathway to legal status if they meet certain criteria, like no felonies, and passing English language proficiency tests.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/congressional\/3905134\/democrat-mayra-macias-run-as-independent-against-chuy-garcia-successor\/\">DEMOCRAT MAYRA MACIAS TO RUN AS INDEPENDENT AGAINST CHUY GARCIA&rsquo;S PICKED SUCCESSOR<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;They are teachers, nurses, doctors, and small business owners throughout our communities and in all 50 states.
