Republican Senator Eric Schmitt dismissed the controversy as a &#8220;nothing burger,&#8221; suggesting the accusations are an ongoing effort to undermine Hegseth. The piece also highlights accusations that Kelly leaked classified information to the media, <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >potentially breaking federal law<\/a>, though no charges are expected. Mark Kelly stopped talking, we&rsquo;d stop talking bad about him. But, the guy makes it a bit too easy when he keeps his mouth open just enough for words to fall out of it.<\/p>\n<p>Kelly doesn&rsquo;t even have to open his fat trap on TV, either. Take his recent actions over Signalgate, a months-old scandal Kelly &mdash; who&rsquo;s likely <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/democratic-senator-appears-threaten-military-amid-mark-kelly-investigation-will-consequences\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">running for the Democratic nomination for president<\/a> in 2028 &mdash; is milking for all that it&rsquo;s worth.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/politics\/national-security\/pentagons-signalgate-review-finds-hegseth-violated-defense-department-regulations-d75b9c0a?gaa_at=eafs&amp;gaa_n=AWEtsqd68RJhdWPowKLk4TAWWlfn48d1k3LsaV_fFT-sxUepFDuhkcp1tKNZaAkUhKc%3D&amp;gaa_ts=6931252e&amp;gaa_sig=YMzB7KBx0dPzl4U0Nme2eUFzNtgDTgnEO6-VnfHt4tATV4KJ_ND7-T5Vjq_6ICvxBZnB70NIxjd1G9NMdiHzVA%3D%3D\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Wall Street Journal<\/a>, Kelly said that a Pentagon watchdog&rsquo;s report concluded that War Secretary Pete Hegseth had violated departmental rules when he had a conversation about strikes in Yemen on a group chat on the app Signal.<\/p>\n<p>Two problems with that. First, Hegseth has broad powers of declassification. Second, the declassified version of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/sources-missouri-ag-stopped-working-on-probe-into-zuckbucks\/\" title=\"Sources: Missouri AG &#039;Stopped Working On&#039; Probe Into &#039;Zuckbucks&#039;\">report isn&#038;rsquo<\/a>;t set to be publicly released until Thursday. Kelly made his comments Wednesday &mdash; after, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/edition.cnn.com\/2025\/12\/03\/politics\/report-hegseth-signal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CNN<\/a>, the classified version was sent to Congress.<\/p>\n<p>Senators do not have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trump-orders-immediate-declassification-fbi-russia-hoax-documents-now-able-see\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">broad powers of declassification<\/a>. The whole controversy,&rdquo; Schmitt said.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;So they didn&rsquo;t get him in the confirmation process? Make a big deal out of this&hellip; So it&rsquo;s just an ongoing effort. I wouldn&rsquo;t expect it to end with this, but I think again, the President has faith in Secretary Hegseth. Perhaps he could claim that he was looking at the declassified version of the report. That likely wouldn&rsquo;t make sense, especially since it wasn&rsquo;t available.<\/p>\n<p>But, perhaps most importantly, it&rsquo;s worth noting that nobody seems to have the appetite to take <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/chilling-video-mark-kelly-betrays-dems-plan-destroy-servicemen-obeyed-trump-return-power\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">on Kelly for his behavior<\/a> &mdash; yet. We&rsquo;ll see if that changes. The only thing that&rsquo;s for certain is that the Iron Law of Woke Projection remains undefeated: Once again we have a Democrat falsely accusing a political enemy of the very thing that Democrat is doing.
