The crash, which occurred on November 4th shortly after takeoff, killed three pilots and 11 people on the ground, injuring many others. The lawsuits, filed in Kentucky state court, claim that UPS and defendants knew or should have known the McDonnell Douglas MD-11 aircraft was unsafe due to disrepair, specifically citing cracks found in the left wing&#8217;s engine mount by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). The plane had failed to receive a detailed engine mount inspection since 2021, despite maintainance work being done in October 2023. The lawsuits accuse UPS, UPS Air Cargo, General Electric (engine manufacturer), Boeing (aircraft owner), and VT San Antonio Aerospace (maintenance company) of negligence. At least 23 others were injured. The plane was en route to Honolulu, <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/hawaii\/\">Hawaii<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The plaintiffs leading the two lawsuits are the families of <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cliffordlaw.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Anderson-Complaint-Filed-Copy.pdf\">Angela Anderson<\/a>, a 45-year-old mother who was a customer at a local business at the time of the explosion, and <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cliffordlaw.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Chavez-Complaint-Filed-Copy.pdf\">Trinadette Chavez<\/a>, a 37-year-old mother employed at one of the businesses destroyed in the crash. Their lawyers vowed to hold the companies tied to the crashed plane accountable.<\/p>\n<p>Each lawsuit accuses UPS, UPS Air Cargo, General Electric, <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/boeing\/\">Boeing<\/a>, and VT San Antonio Aerospace of negligence. GE is the manufacturer of the engine that caught fire, Boeing is the owner of the MD-11 aircraft, and VT SAA is the company responsible for inspections and maintenance.<\/p>\n<p>The 34-year-old cargo plane underwent six weeks of maintenance ending on Oct. 18. However, the engine mount had not undergone a detailed inspection since October 2021. Another detailed inspection would have been due when the plane completed another 7,000 takeoffs and landings.<\/p>\n<p>Aviation attorney Robert Clifford, one of many lawyers representing the victims&rsquo; families, said the Nov. 4 incident reminded him of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/medical-transport-jet-crashes-in-san-diego-suburb\/\" title=\"Medical transport jet ...es in San Diego suburb\">deadly plane crash<\/a> nearly 50 years ago.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;When I heard news that an engine had detached from a cargo jet, I immediately thought of the 1979 crash at Chicago&rsquo;s O&rsquo;Hare Airport of an American Airlines jet, where a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/deadly-ky-ups-plane-crash-hit-with-first-wrongful-death-lawsuits\/\" title=\"Deadly KY ... ... hit with first ...\">left engine detached shortly<\/a> after takeoff, killing all 271 on board and two on the ground,&rdquo; he <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cliffordlaw.com\/leading-aviation-law-firm-files-first-wrongful-death-lawsuits-in-ups-cargo-jet-crash\/\">said in a statement<\/a>. &ldquo;I worked on those very sad cases for years, and we got answers for families who deserved justice.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><strong><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/infrastructure\/3894180\/ntsb-engine-mount-crack-ups-plane-crash-kentucky\/\">NTSB FINDS EVIDENCE OF ENGINE MOUNT CRACK IN UPS PLANE THAT CRASHED IN KENTUCKY<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Clifford added that the episode illustrates how the defendants put &ldquo;profit over safety,&rdquo; ultimately endangering the lives of others.<\/p>\n<p>Wednesday&rsquo;s litigation follows a <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.forthepeople.com\/blog\/ups-crash-acted-bomb-first-lawsuit-filed-wake-tragedy\/\">federal class action lawsuit<\/a> filed by Morgan &amp; Morgan.
