High\">lower-income consumer<\/a>,&rdquo; Arnold <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/3897564\/holiday-sales-growth-expected-slower-this-year-affordability-issues-weigh-economy\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">told<\/a> the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em> before Thanksgiving.<\/p>\n<p>Also, in September, a PricewaterhouseCoopers survey <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/retail-consumer\/us-holiday-spending-set-steepest-drop-since-pandemic-pwc-survey-shows-2025-09-03\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">projected<\/a> a 5.3% decrease in holiday spending in 2025. They claimed the steepest drop in holiday spending since the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Consumers are approaching holiday purchases more deliberately, deciding what matters most, where to scale back, and what feels worth the splurge,&rdquo; <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/retail-consumer\/us-holiday-spending-set-steepest-drop-since-pandemic-pwc-survey-shows-2025-09-03\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a> PwC officials.<\/p>\n<p>There&rsquo;s still approximately a month left for holiday shopping. It remains to be seen if projections of decreased spending will come to fruition.
