His brother, John Bennett, was arrested in Virginia Beach on the same day. John Bennett is the assistant principal&nbsp;of Kempsville High School in Virginia Beach.&nbsp;He is still employed by the school; his photo and contact information are still on the&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/kempsvillehs.vbschools.com\/school\/administration\">school website<\/a>. He is reportedly on leave, according to local news reports.<\/p>\n<p>Both were charged with a state crime of one count of conspiracy to commit malicious wounding.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;It&rsquo;s chilling that a human being, much less a child educator, would plot to ambush and kill ICE law enforcement officers &ndash; offering such specifics as to getting a high caliber rifle that would pierce the law enforcements&rsquo;&nbsp;bullet proof vests. Thanks to Homeland Security Investigations and our partners, these men are behind bars,&rdquo;&nbsp;DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dhs.gov\/news\/2025\/11\/26\/virginia-high-school-assistant-principal-and-brother-arrested-plotting-kill-ice-law\">said.&nbsp;<\/a><\/p>\n<p>They weren&rsquo;t behind bars for long and were released on a $25,000 bond, with GPS monitoring. They claimed they were &ldquo;joking around&rdquo; and the Las Vegas trip was preplanned to attend an F1 race, WAVY 10 News&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wavy.com\/news\/crime\/kempsville-high-school-assistant-principal-brother-arrested-for-threat-against-ice\/\">reported.<\/a>&nbsp;Their next hearing is scheduled for Jan. 23.<\/p>\n<p>Law enforcement took the claims seriously, as assaults against ICE officers up now by 1,153% in just 11 months.<\/p>\n<p>From Jan. 21 through Nov. 21, 2025,&nbsp;238 assaults were reported against ICE officers, up from 19 reported during the same time period last year, DHS said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>That&rsquo;s an increase of 1,153%.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, the number of death threats made against ICE officers has increased by 8,000%, The Center Square&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thecentersquare.com\/national\/article_3044fb8f-7ade-44b8-a7d1-c5970ef8ecaf.html\">reported.<\/a>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>ICE and U.S. Customs and Border Protection and Border Patrol officers have also experienced a surge of targeted vehicular attacks. Vehicular attacks against CBP and Border Patrol agents are up 58%; attacks against ICE officers are up by 1,300%, The Center Square&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thecentersquare.com\/national\/article_57cdf933-2244-44c0-b935-9e28aecb4953.html\">reported.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>DHS blames Democrats for increased violence and threats of violence.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;After months of Democrat politicians comparing ICE to Nazis, the Gestapo, slave patrols, and even encouraging illegal aliens to resist arrest, our brave ICE law enforcement have been assaulted 238 times,&rdquo;&nbsp;McLaughlin&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dhs.gov\/news\/2025\/11\/24\/sanctuary-politicians-rhetoric-fuels-more-1150-increase-violence-against-ice-law\">said<\/a>.&nbsp;&ldquo;Our law enforcement officers have had Molotov cocktails and rocks thrown at them, been shot at, had cars used as weapons against them, and been physically assaulted. Sanctuary politicians need to tone the rhetoric down before a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/georgia-secretary-of-state-investigating-voter-registration-group-run-by-democrat-raphael-warnock\/\" title=\"Georgia Secretary Of State Investigating Voter Registration Group Run By Democrat Raphael Warnock\">law enforcement officer<\/a> is killed. They should be thanking these <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/maryland-judge-bans-thin-blue-line-clothing-for-court-employees\/\" title=\"Maryland Judge Bans \u2018Thin Blue Line\u2019 Clothing For Court Employees\">brave law enforcement officers<\/a> who risk their lives every single day to arrest pedophiles, rapists, murderers, gang members, and terrorists from our neighborhoods.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Examples of assaults include hitting, spitting, kicking, biting,&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thecentersquare.com\/texas\/article_f31f0cb7-f1d4-4b62-abba-dd2f68e7ca3c.html\">attempted strangulation<\/a>, drive-by shootings, and&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thecentersquare.com\/illinois\/article_602c3bdf-ac35-4df0-8da6-85bb50ce4b2b.html\">cartel bounties<\/a>, The Center Square reported.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/immigration\/3901401\/trump-pause-immigration-third-world-countries-shooting\/\">TRUMP SAYS HE WILL PAUSE IMMIGRATION FROM &lsquo;THIRD-WORLD COUNTRIES&rsquo; AFTER SHOOTING<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Despite these threats, ICE officers are prioritizing arresting violent criminals, including those with removal orders from federal immigration judges. The overwhelming majority being arrested, 70%, have criminal convictions or pending charges, ICE says.
