Lakanwal reportedly entered the United States in 2021 and overstayed his visa. The shooting occurred near the Farragut West Metro station close to the White House, critically injuring two West Virginia National Guard troops. The suspect was wounded during his apprehension and is now in custody. The motive for the attack remains unclear, although D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser described it as a targeted shooting against the National Guard. The FBI is investigating the incident as a possible act of terrorism. The shooting unfolded outside the Farragut West Metro station near the White House.<\/p>\n<p>The suspect was wounded as he was apprehended by law enforcement.
