Kelly dismissed the inquiry as an intimidation tactic, recalling his military service and experiences under enemy fire to downplay the stress of the investigation. He emphasized his commitment to supporting the Constitution and holding the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/new-hampshire-democrat-delivers-ominous-message-to-biden-about-how-the-state-has-been-treated\/\" title=\"NH Democrat warns Biden of mistreatment in state\">current administration accountable<\/a>, stating that he will not be silenced. The Pentagon&#8217;s &#8220;thorough review&#8221; could lead to actions such as recalling Kelly to active duty for court-martial or other administrative measures, since active and <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >retired military members<\/a> are subject to the Uniform Code of Military Justice. The investigation has drawn criticism from Democrats and some republicans,including Rep. Don Bacon, who called the Pentagon&#8217;s response excessive and called for restraint. I&rsquo;ve flown a rocket ship into space four times, built by the lowest bidder,&rdquo; the senator <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Acyn\/status\/1993148380458238153?s=20\">said in the interview<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I&rsquo;m not going to be silenced here,&rdquo; he added. &ldquo;Is it stressful? I&rsquo;ve been stressed by things more important than Donald Trump trying to intimidate me into shutting my mouth and not doing my job.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Kelly says he knows what political violence looks like because his wife, former Rep. <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/gabby-giffords\/\">Gabby Giffords<\/a> (D-AZ), was critically injured after getting shot in the head in 2011. He went on to claim President <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/donald-trump\/\">Donald Trump<\/a> is inciting violence.<\/p>\n<p>The senator&rsquo;s comments reference Trump&rsquo;s <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/white-house\/3893490\/trump-blasts-seditious-democratic-veterans-truth-social\/\">recent Truth Social posts<\/a> in which he suggested six Democrats, including Kelly, should be tried for &ldquo;seditious behavior&rdquo; because they <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/defense\/3892669\/democratic-veterans-congress-unlawful-orders\/\">advised military and intelligence personnel<\/a> in a video to disobey the Trump administration&rsquo;s unlawful orders.<\/p>\n<p>Kelly and the other lawmakers &mdash; Sen. Elissa Slotkin (D-MI) and Reps. Jason Crow (D-CO), Maggie Goodlander (D-NH), Chris Deluzio (D-PA), and Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA) &mdash; made the plea as veterans themselves last week.<\/p>\n<p>By Monday, the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/department-of-defense\/\">Department of War<\/a> opened a &ldquo;thorough review&rdquo; of Kelly over &ldquo;serious allegations of misconduct&rdquo; related to his involvement in the video.<\/p>\n<p>The review will &ldquo;determine further actions, which may include recall to active duty for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/senate-democrat-facing-court-martial-over-video-encouraging-military-personnel-to-defy-trump\/\" title=\"Senate Democrat Facing ... Personnel to Defy ...\">court-martial proceedings<\/a> or administrative measures,&rdquo; the department <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/DeptofWar\/status\/1992999267967905905\">said on social media<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Active-duty and retired military service members remain subject to the Uniform Code of Military Justice for applicable offenses, meaning they are legally obligated to obey lawful orders. That&rsquo;s the responsibility of every U.S. senator and every member of Congress.
