Virginia, often called the &#8220;data center capital of the world,&#8221; already hosts over 600 data centers from 60 operators due to its strategic location near the federal government, a skilled workforce, tax incentives, ample power, and available land for development. history will bring revenue and employment to the Commonwealth, which the governor said will expand the &ldquo;high quality of life Virginia is known for.&rdquo; The governor added that the investment resulted from &ldquo;strong collaboration&rdquo; between private and public leaders.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Over 600 data centers from <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.datacentermap.com\/usa\/virginia\/\">60 different operators<\/a> already exist in Virginia, which have been drawn to the state for its <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/blog.vantage-dc.com\/2020\/08\/21\/what-made-northern-virginia-the-worlds-largest-data-center-market\/\">robust workforce<\/a>, geographic location to the federal government, tax incentives, abundant power, and space for development.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Data companies are incentivized to relocate to the commonwealth due to its tax incentives for equipment and retail purchases, and accessible state and federal grants.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In return, data centers are required by <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/restoring-america\/faith-freedom-self-reliance\/3887646\/virginia-rural-vitality-plan-close-health-gap\/\">Virginia<\/a> law to create at least 50 new jobs, invest at least $150 million in the commonwealth, and <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/wydaily.com\/latest\/regional-national\/2025\/11\/17\/virginia-data-center-deals-lack-transparency-watchdog-says\/\">pay<\/a> their employees 150% of the local average wage, which is seen by the state as an incentive to host the data centers.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Aside from the industrial expansion, <a legislature&rsquo;s Joint Legislative Audit and Review Commission revealed that data center energy demand would roughly triple in the next 15 years if developments remained <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/premium\/3880842\/ai-data-centers-anger-across-spectrum\/\">unregulated<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/technology\/3482633\/virginia-data-center-development-drives-debate-price-technological-advancement\/\"><strong>MASSIVE VIRGINIA DATA
