In a letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi, cook&#8217;s legal team argued that referrals made by Federal Housing Finance Agency Director Bill Pulte to the Justice Department lack a solid foundation. Pulte alleged that Cook falsely claimed two properties in diffrent states as her primary residence to obtain better loan terms, which he suggested constituted mortgage fraud. Though, Cook&#8217;s lawyers contend that Pulte ignored critically important documents that clarify the situation, stating that any inconsistencies were isolated and inadvertent rather than intentional fraud. The full record makes clear that what he claims to be contradictions in loan applications were not contradictions at all, but were cherry-picked, incomplete snippets of the full documents submitted at the time and in subsequent filings by Governor Cook consistent with her applications,&rdquo; lawyers wrote on Cook&rsquo;s behalf.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The letter slammed President Donald Trump for <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/3813857\/trump-asks-supreme-court-fire-fed-governor-lisa-cook\/\">attempting to remove Cook <\/a>from her role after the allegations went public. Cook swiftly challenged Trump&rsquo;s move to fire her in court, leading the Supreme Court to rule on Oct. 1 that she could at least temporarily stay in her role until January, when the justices will review the case.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The referrals [from Pulte] are baseless and should not have been made in the first place; they should not have been the basis for President Trump to seek Governor Cook&rsquo;s removal from the Board; and they should not warrant any further investigation,&rdquo; the letter read.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Pulte, who oversees the government-sponsored enterprises Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, <span style=\"box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\"><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/investigations\/3787075\/bill-pulte-lisa-cook-second-mortgage-complaint-property-massachusetts\/\">alleged in August<\/a>&nbsp;that Cook violated the law by listing two homes, one in Michigan and one in Georgia, as her primary residence concurrently,&nbsp;<\/span>months before she was nominated to the Fed board.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It appears Cook &ldquo;falsified bank documents and property records to acquire more favorable loan terms, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/fed-governor-lisa-cook-says-she-wont-be-bullied-into-resignation-after-trump-demand\/\" title=\"Fed governor Lisa Cook says she won&#039;t be &#039;bullied&#039; into resignation after Trump demand\">potentially committing mortgage fraud<\/a> under the criminal statute,&rdquo; Pulte<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/finance-and-economy\/3778512\/trump-fire-fed-governor-cook-mortgage-fraud-allegations\/\"> wrote in a letter<\/a> to Bondi.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;This has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-calls-for-fed-governor-cook-to-resign-over-pulte-mortgage-fraud-accusation\/\" title=\"Trump calls for Fed governor Cook to resign over ... ... accusation\">included falsifying residence statuses<\/a> for an Ann Arbor, Michigan-based residence and an Atlanta, Georgia-based property in order to <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >potentially secure lower interest rates<\/a> and more favorable loan terms,&rdquo; he added.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/finance-and-economy\/3808516\/democrats-miran-resign-white-house\/\"><strong>STEPHEN MIRAN DRAWS BARBS FROM DEMOCRATS FOR TAKING LEAVE OF ABSENCE FROM WHITE HOUSE INSTEAD OF RESIGNING<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Cook&rsquo;s legal team conceded this week that &ldquo;one line on the mortgage application for her Atlanta apartment listed the property as her &lsquo;Primary Residence.&rsquo;&rdquo; However, the Fed governor argued the context proves that the &ldquo;listing was an isolated notation&mdash;not an intentional scheme to defraud.&rdquo;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The listing of the Atlanta property as a &lsquo;Primary Residence&rsquo;&nbsp; was at most an inadvertent notation.
