Doe decision that mandates education for children of illegal immigrants. Roy also expressed concerns about the influence of sharia law in the U.S., linking it to unchecked immigration, a topic supported by some other Republican officials. The bill is intended to serve as a framework for halting immigration while reforms are debated. Doe<\/em>, which requires children of illegal immigrants to be educated in the U.S.<\/p>\n<p>Roy then shifted his focus to addressing the presence of sharia law in the U.S., which he claimed was caused by unchecked immigration and goes against Western values.&nbsp;Republicans, including Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) and Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), have also revived the conversation about sharia law in recent months. Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX) signed legislation banning sharia law in Texas in September. Right-wing politicians say banning sharia law protects the Constitution, while left-wing politicians accuse them of fearmongering without evidence.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Why are we importing any human being that is adherent to sharia law, which is totally contrary to the Constitution and our values in <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/opinion\/3472855\/brothers-in-arms-muslim-brotherhood-european-union-france\/\">Western civilization<\/a>?&rdquo;&nbsp;Roy asked.<\/p>\n<p>Roy said he would be open to allowing other members to amend his bill, as his bill would serve as a &ldquo;framework&rdquo; to freeze immigration entirely while Congress can &ldquo;sort this crap out.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>However, Roy expressed the need for the U.S. to identify the immigrants who are here, their motives, and how dependent they are on America&rsquo;s public resources.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to his announcement on the PAUSE Act, Roy discussed the ramifications of the H-1B system, <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/washington-secrets\/1904707\/chain-migration-choking-us-record-1-8-million-immigrants-in-2016-14-million-since-2006\/\">chain migration<\/a>, and diversity visas, which he said have been &ldquo;abused.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Roy then shed light on his previous efforts to reform the immigration system, which he and his colleagues have been trying to address &ldquo;for a very long time.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;You&rsquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/gop-rep-miller-meeks-says-people-should-be-outraged-house-could-unseat-her-from-congress\/\" title=\"GOP Rep. Should Include Border Wall\">illegal immigration system<\/a>, and we also didn&rsquo;t address ending chain migration and diversity visas,&rdquo; Roy said.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We had language to do it, we just couldn&rsquo;t get the votes.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>While it remains unclear if Roy will have enough support from his colleagues in pushing this bill to the Resolute Desk for a signature, President Donald Trump&rsquo;s administration and his congressional allies have signaled strong support for legal immigration.<\/p>\n<p>H-1B visas are work permits given to highly skilled foreign laborers. Trump and his allies have recently called for reforming the program, including raising the cost and reducing the number given, as they accuse employers of abusing the system.<\/p>\n<p>In September, Trump changed the fee for H-1B visas from around <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/internationaloffice.berkeley.edu\/ucb_departments\/h-1b\/fees#:~:text=Table_title:%20H%2D1B%20Processing%20Fees%20Table_content:%20header:%20%7C,Type:%20UCB%20Chartstring%20or%20Form%20G%2D1450%20%7C\">$10,000<\/a> to <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/immigration\/3816221\/trump-to-charge-100k-fee-for-h-1b-visas\/\">$100,000,<\/a> in an attempt to make the visa less desirable for companies.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The H-1B system is a complete scam,&rdquo; Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/bennyjohnson\/status\/1988685728251797621\">said<\/a> on Johnson&rsquo;s talk show on Wednesday. &ldquo;We now know that to be the case.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Later that day, Rep.
