Wilson, who had remained incarcerated largely due to these firearm charges discovered during an FBI search of his property in 2022, was granted a &#8220;full and unconditional pardon,&#8221; enabling his early release ahead of his original sentence end date in 2028. Wilson&#8217;s attorneys described the pardon as an act of mercy highlighting governmental overreach. While the Department of Justice initially argued that Trump&#8217;s initial pardons did not cover unrelated charges, a federal judge overruled this view, and the new pardon resolved the legal dispute. After more than 7 months of unjustified imprisonment, he is relieved to be home with his loved ones,&rdquo; Wilson&rsquo;s attorneys, George Pallas and Carol Stewart, <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2025\/11\/15\/trump-re-pardons-a-jan-6-defendant-to-erase-unrelated-gun-conviction-five-year-jail-term-00653425\">told<\/a> <em>Politico<\/em> in a statement. &ldquo;This act of mercy not only restores his freedom but also shines a light on the overreach that has divided this nation.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Wilson was charged with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-bidens-would-rather-snub-all-their-grandkids-than-hang-a-christmas-stocking-for-navy-roberts\/\" title=\"The Bidens neglect their grandkids, won&#039;t hang a stocking for Navy Roberts\">federal gun crimes<\/a> when his property was searched by the FBI in 2022 over his participation in the Jan. 6 riot, uncovering several pistols and rifles. <\/p>\n<p>Wilson admitted in a plea agreement that his possession of the firearms was illegal because he had been convicted in the 1990s of multiple felonies, including burglary, and because one of the guns was not registered to him.<\/p>\n<p>The Department of Justice initially said Trump&rsquo;s pardon of all Jan. 6 participants didn&rsquo;t apply to the charge, but quickly reversed course.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. District Judge Dabney Friedrich, a Trump appointee, rejected the DOJ&rsquo;s argument, saying they had stretched Trump&rsquo;s pardon too far.
