It is born of compromise.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Most of the House Democrats who pushed the continuing resolution across the finish line in a vote on Wednesday evening represent swing districts and are up for reelection in 2026.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>They have pushed colleagues on both sides of the aisle to demonstrate &ldquo;courage&rdquo; in bipartisanship, contrasting those who have cast compromise with the other side as a weakness or &ldquo;caving in&rdquo; to the opposition.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We need to demonstrate the courage to practice the version of politics most of us wish was the norm: Two sides acknowledging there&rsquo;s a problem, and sitting down to find a workable solution,&rdquo; Golden wrote in a September <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/jaredgolden.substack.com\/p\/how-im-approaching-the-budget-standoff\">Substack post<\/a>, urging Republicans and Democrats to negotiate a deal to avert the shutdown.<\/p>\n<p>Golden&rsquo;s words come as calls within his party have grown louder to oust Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), who they believe has been too willing to work with Republicans. Senate candidates, such as Rep. Seth Moulton (D-MA) and Democratic Texas state Rep. James Talarico, argued it was because Schumer &ldquo;folded&rdquo; that a key number of centrist Senate Democrats advanced the continuing resolution in the upper chamber this week after weeks of deadlock, allowing it to be sent to the House for a final vote.<\/p>\n<p>If Schumer were an &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/its-time-for-the-people-of-new-york-to-determine-andrew-cuomos-fate\/\" title=\"It\u2019s Time For The People Of New York To Determine Andrew Cuomo\u2019s Fate\">effective leader<\/a>, he would have united his caucus to vote &lsquo;No&rsquo; tonight and hold the line on healthcare,&rdquo; Moulton said <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/sethmoulton\/status\/1987703959553785954?s=20\">in a post <\/a>on X.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;This moment <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/politics\/2025\/11\/10\/senate-democrats-criticized-caving-government-shutdown\/87190561007\/\">demands fighters<\/a>, not folders,&rdquo; Talarico added.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) disagreed.
