The seventh edition of the directives emphasizes the duty to &#8220;protect our humanity&#8221; by accepting and respecting the human body as it was created. (AP Photo\/Stephanie Scarbrough)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The updated guidance comes two years after the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.usccb.org\/DoctrineGuidanceToCatholicHealth\">issued a doctrinal note<\/a> on the &ldquo;Moral Limits to Technological Manipulation of the Human Body.&rdquo; This guideline said all appropriate resources must be used to help those struggling with &ldquo;gender incongruence,&rdquo; but such means &ldquo;must respect the fundamental order of the human body.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The nonprofit Catholic Health Association of the United States said Wednesday that these updated directives are &ldquo;<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.chausa.org\/news-and-publications\/news-releases\/2025\/11\/12\/catholic-health-association-of-the-united-states-statement-on-the-united-states-conference-of-catholic-bishops'-revisions-to-the-ethical-and-religious-directives-for-catholic-health-care-services\">consistent with Catholic health care practice<\/a>,&rdquo; which prohibit medical treatment intended to change sexual characteristics. The group added that Catholic providers will continue to welcome patients who identify as transgender.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Catholic Health Association, 1 in 7 patients in the U.S. receive care from Catholic hospitals daily.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/infrastructure\/3884554\/dhs-sued-policy-banning-transgender-tsa-officers-conducting-pat-downs\/\"><strong>DHS SUED OVER POLICY BANNING TRANSGENDER TSA OFFICERS FROM CONDUCTING PAT-DOWNS<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In December 2022, the Eighth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals sided with groups against the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/house\/3884983\/house-seeks-remove-senate-republican-provision-sue-doj-over-biden-investigations\/\">Biden administration&rsquo;s<\/a> requirement that healthcare and insurance groups perform gender reassignment procedures. The case was brought by religious doctors who said the mandate <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/2881166\/appeals-court-rules-catholic-medical-centers-cant-be-forced-to-perform-transgender-surgeries\/\">violated their beliefs<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/section\/news\/supreme-court\/\">Supreme Court<\/a> said Wednesday it will hear two <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/supreme-court-considers-whether-public-officials-may-block-constituents-on-social-media\/\" title=\"... ponders if officials can block constituents on social media.\">cases back-<\/a>to-back <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/supreme-court\/3884767\/supreme-court-hear-arguments-transgender-sports-cases-january\/\">challenging state laws<\/a> banning biological men from women&rsquo;s sports on Jan. 13, 2026.
