The move follows pressure from Democrats and a bipartisan bill that gained enough signatures to force a floor vote. Johnson said he will expedite the vote and emphasized that the House Oversight Committee continues its own investigation. He also mentioned that former President Donald Trump supports maximum openness and the release of the files. Some Republicans, like Rep. A bipartisan bill from Reps. Ro Khanna (D-CA) and Thomas Massie (R-KY) was required to hit the floor of the House after a <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >discharge petition reached 218 signatures<\/a>, but Johnson had leeway for when to put it to a vote. He said it as recently as a couple of days ago, and I talked to him about it today. He&rsquo;s for everything coming out,&rdquo; he told reporters.<\/p>\n<p>When asked about the new swathe of emails relating to Trump that Democrats released, Johnson said it was intended as a distraction.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I think it&rsquo;s a massive distraction by the Democrats while we&rsquo;re trying to get the government reopened and cover for their mistakes. I find it interesting that the press corps didn&rsquo;t ask all these questions for four years during the Biden administration,&rdquo; Johnson said when asked whether he had any concerns about the new findings.<\/p>\n<p>Some Republicans have become increasingly frustrated with the ongoing debate on the issue. Rep. The Democrats have had the Epstein files for four years, and now we&rsquo;ve got it for nine months, and it&rsquo;s going to be dragged into a bunch of nonsense. Let&rsquo;s just take it to the floor. Let&rsquo;s vote on it.
