The cases,*Little v. Hecox* from Idaho and *West Virginia v. B.P.J.*,will address constitutional questions,including whether these laws violate the 14th Amendment,Title IX,or the equal protection clause. Oral arguments for both cases are scheduled for January 13, 2026. Additionally, the Court plans to hear othre high-profile cases in January, including *Wolford v. Lopez*,which concerns restrictions on carrying handguns on private property in Hawaii,and an emergency docket case involving former president Donald Trump&#8217;s attempt to remove Federal Reserve governor Lisa Cook. Hecox <\/em>and <em>West Virginia v. Jean Carroll case<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"article-paywall\">\n<p>In&nbsp;<em>Little&nbsp;v.&nbsp;Hecox<\/em>, the Supreme Court&nbsp;will hear arguments over whether Idaho&rsquo;s law limiting women&rsquo;s sports to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/supreme-court-to-hear-challenges-to-bans-on-transgender-athletes\/\" title=\"... to ... challenges to bans on transgender athletes\">biological women violates<\/a> the&nbsp;14th Amendment, and <em>B.P.J.&nbsp;v. West Virginia State Board of Education<\/em> deals with whether a similar West Virginia law violates Title IX or the equal protection clause.<\/p>\n<p>Activists who filed the lawsuit in <em>Little v. Hecox<\/em> attempted to voluntarily dismiss the case at the federal district court after the Supreme Court agreed to review the case. The lower court <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/supreme-court\/3853024\/federal-court-denies-bid-toss-transgender-sports-lawsuit-before-supreme-hearing\/\">denied<\/a> the bid, and the justices will now hear oral arguments in the case.<\/p>\n<p>The Supreme Court also announced that it scheduled arguments for the high-profile gun case <em>Wolford v. Lopez<\/em> for Jan. 20, 2026, while the high court will have arguments in an emergency docket case over President Donald Trump&rsquo;s attempted firing of Federal Reserve governor&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/supreme-court\/3832013\/supreme-court-lisa-cook-firing-january-oral-arguments\/\">Lisa Cook<\/a> for cause.<\/p>\n<p>In <em>Wolford v. Lopez<\/em>, the high court will look at whether a Hawaii law barring handgun owners who have a concealed carry permit from carrying their weapon on private property unless the owner, or manager of the property, has given the person &ldquo;express authorization to carry a firearm on&nbsp;the property,&rdquo; violates the Second Amendment. The case is one of two <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/supreme-court\/3858101\/supreme-court-could-load-up-on-gun-cases-this-term\/\">significant gun cases<\/a> the justices have agreed to hear this term so far.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/supreme-court\/3880904\/supreme-court-review-legality-counting-late-mail-ballots\/\">SUPREME COURT TO REVIEW LEGALITY OF COUNTING MAIL BALLOTS ARRIVING AFTER ELECTION DAY<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>With the Cook case, the high court took the unusual step of scheduling oral arguments for a dispute on its emergency docket.
