Scammers would then send recipients to fake sites, where they would be tricked into revealing personal and sensitive information, such as passwords and credit card numbers, which are then stolen.<\/p>\n<p>Google said it found more than 100 fake sites using its logo to manipulate people into handing over passwords or credit card numbers.<\/p>\n<p>Google&rsquo;s general counsel, Halimah DeLaine Prado, told the outlet the company had filed what it calls a first-of-its-kind lawsuit under the RICO Act, which is often used to target organized crime rings.<\/p>\n<p>Cyber attacks from China have become an <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/national-security\/3338161\/chinese-hackers-charged-for-cyberespionage-campaign-targeting-us\/\">increasing concern<\/a> for the U.S. in recent years, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/dominion-used-a-version-of-the-solorwinds-orion-platform-which-provides-backdoor-access-into-their-voting-machines\/\" title=\"Dominion Used a Version of the SolorWinds Orion Platform Which Provides Backdoor Access Into their Voting Machines\">government agencies<\/a> such as the EPA recently<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/energy-and-environment\/3858925\/epa-unveil-cybersecurity-tools-protect-us-water-systems\/\"> rolling out systems <\/a>to address attacks on critical infrastructure, including the country&rsquo;s water systems.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Last year, President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance were among <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/magazine\/3280961\/chinas-salt-typhoon-telecom-hack-has-sent-shockwaves-through-the-us-intelligence-community\/\">those hacked <\/a>by China&rsquo;s &ldquo;Salt Typhoon&rdquo; typhoon, which targeted text messages, monitored phone calls, and tracked geolocation as part of a campaign-sabotaging telecommunications infrastructure.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>China is not the only country the U.S. has warned is carrying out operations targeting  U.S. cybersecurity.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/investigations\/3846649\/espionage-linked-chinese-company-embedded-us-research-labs\/\">ESPIONAGE-LINKED CHINESE COMPANY EMBEDDED IN TOP U.S. RESEARCH LABS<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Multiple government agencies <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/defense\/3457929\/us-agencies-warn-defense-companies-iran-cyberattacks\/\">warned earlier this year<\/a> that Iran&nbsp;or its affiliates could target U.S. defense industrial base companies via cyberattacks.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. defense contractors, &ldquo;particularly those possessing holdings or relationships with Israeli research and defense firms, are at increased risk,&rdquo;
